Saturday, June 15
— Stewart Father's Day Powwow in Carson City (all day). Hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers, artists, craftsmen and cultural enthusiasts will converge on Carson City the weekend of June 14-16 for the annual Stewart Indian School Father’s Day Powwow. Festivities at the former Stewart Indian School, located at 5500 Snyder Ave., Carson City, include daily grand entries, crafts and food vendors, and a fun run. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
— Stewart Father's Day Powwow to feature 5K Color Fun Run and Walk. 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Stewart Indian Facility, 5500 Snyder Ave. Please join us for the 3rd Annual Color Fun Run/Walk 5K during the Stewart Indian School Father's Day Pow Wow Weekend. Run and Walk will be held through the historic campus of the Stewart Indian School.The event is June 15, 2019 beginning at 8 a.m. To secure your t-shirt, register by June 1, 2019. — Fresh and Bountiful: Carson City Farmers Market returns this Saturday. 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of 3rd and Curry St. in Carson City. Enjoy fresh-picked produce, local meats, fresh flowers, artisan baked goods, jams, honey, crafts, live music and Carson City’s smiling faces.This week at the market you can enjoy music by Ricky D., stop by the kids' booth to make your own market bag, we have all the supplies for you. We are excited to see you all again this year.
— Inaugural Women with Wheelz Car Show at Virginia City. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Silverland Inn and Suites, 100 E. St. Women with Wheelz Car Show is coming to Virginia City with lots of new events. Open to the first 120 cars, food, music, giveaways, static displays, Department of Traffic and Safety display, Sister on the Fly local ladies, raffle prizes and more!
— Train to Virginia City from Carson City. Event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road. Prices for the ride range from $25-$55. Rediscover Nevada’s rich history in mining and mill on the V&T Carson City-Virginia City route as you meander through tunnels, canyons and mining towns aboard a restored 1914 Pullman coach led by a 1916 Baldwin 2-8-0 steam locomotive. This relaxing all-day train excursion is fully narrated with historical facts and anecdotes. Departing from Carson City’s Eastgate Depot, the 24-mile round-trip tour includes a fun 3.5-hour stopover in historic Virginia City, where you can stroll the boardwalks and explore restaurants, shops, saloons, museums, mines and more. — Mint 150: 1870 Mint Building Tour. 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St. There will be a guided tour of the Carson City Mint Building led by Curator of History Robert Nylen from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m.
— Vintage Trailer Park Rally in Virginia City. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at VC RV Park, 355 North F. Street. Step back in time with the Virginia City RV Park. The RV Park is hosting a vintage park rally and open house on June 15.
— State Capitol Guided Tours at the Nevada State Capitol. Two separate tours will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every Saturday in Carson City. Tours typically take an hour and include both the exterior of the building, nearby memorials as well as the interior of the building. Tours are available for up to 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis. The building includes numerous historic artifacts that range from portraits of past Nevada governors to sculptures to historical items showcased during Nevada’s Sesquicentennial celebration. The Capitol remains open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Guided tours of up to 20 people can be arranged in advance by calling the Nevada State Museum’s Education Program at 775-687-4810, ext. 237.
— Author to lecture on Carson City Mint assayers on Saturday. 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St. You may know that the Carson City Mint produced coins bearing the famed CC mint mark, but did you know it was a United States assay office? Learn about this history of the Carson City Mint at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St. in Carson City. Paul Franklin, a retired semiconductor industry executive and frequent lecturer at Stanford University, will talk about Carson City Mint assayers and their role in analyzing and refining gold and silver.
— Carson Mall Hot Wheels Day. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1227 S. Carson St. Ready, set, GO!!! Come and race your Hot Wheels at the Carson Mall! Bring your favorite Hot Wheels, Matchbox or similar-sized car and compete against your peers for bragging rights and prizes! We will have a 15 ft downhill race track! Double elimination. No car? No problem, Hot Wheels cars will be available for sale, $2.00 per car. Trophies for each age class and overall winner. This tournament-style event is $1.00 per car, limit 10 cars. — Lego Club at the Carson City Library. 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 900 N. Roop St. Build self-led creations through hands-on learning with LEGO Education materials. Participants 9 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver of at least 13 years of age at all times.
— Nevada Wild Horses fundraiser to be held at the Governor's Mansion. 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 606 N. Mountain St in Carson City. A fundraiser for the Virginia Range Wildlife Protection Association and the Wild Horse Preservation League will be held at the Governor’s Mansion on June 15 to raise awareness for Nevada’s wild horses.The fundraiser will take place at the Nevada Governors Mansion located at 606 Mountain St, Carson City inside the Nevada Room on Saturday, June 15 from 5-8 p.m. Live music will be provided by Athena McIntyre, and the emcee for the evening will be Eddie Floyd.

— Muscle Powered Weekly Bicycle Ride. 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Fremont Elementary School in Carson City. Typically, this ride consists of two 10-15 minute loops with varying pace depending on rider level. This is a “no drop” ride so no one will be left behind. All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, a helmet, and closed toed shoes. Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint will kick-off Father’s Day in Carson City during its fifth annual Sassabration fundraiser event featuring Brunch and Bingo with Bea Arthur, a tribute to the late comedy actress, singer and activist Bea Arthur on Sunday, June 16 at 11 a.m. A savory southern-style brunch buffet will be served along with several activities and live performances to keep the fundraiser jam-packed with excitement.
