Despite the changes in learning platforms brought on by the coronavirus, Western Nevada College is proud to announce that more than a third of its full-time students were still able to make the fall semester dean’s list.

The WNC Fall 2020 Dean’s List includes 408 students, accounting for 34.7 percent of the college’s full-time students.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Fall-themed train rides from the Virginia Truckee Railroad Company and the Nevada State Railroad Museum will be available on Saturday and Sunday. A virtual “Light After Dark” fitness event will be held on Saturday to support the Carson City-based Advocated to End Domestic Violence program. The Brewery Arts Center will deliver live music directly to the citizens of Carson City while practicing social distancing once again this week.

Miles Construction Company has generously donated the use of a Flatbed Truck and with financial support from The Change Companies, the Nauman Foundation, and Carson Tahoe Hospital, the BAC will place musicians and bands on the flatbed and drive them through the streets and neighborhoods of Carson City throughout June and July and August.

The BAC brings the music to your front yard traveling through the Silver Oak neighborhood with the cool jazz sounds of Phreemium.

For the second straight Fall semester, more than 370 students at Western Nevada College made the Dean’s List. After 373 students made the Dean’s List last fall, that total was topped by 380 students who qualified for the honor for the recently concluded fall semester.

Moons of Jupiter, a 7 piece dance, r&b, funk, blues and jazz band will make its first live appearance at Bob McFadden Plaza in Carson City on Friday, August 2 from 7-10 p.m. The band is based out of South Lake Tahoe with Carson City local Myke Smith on the saxes and lead vocals.

The Levitt AMP Carson City summer concert series continues this Saturday, July 27 with two headliners sure to light up the night at the Change Company stage, bringing with them all the flavors of pop, funk and plenty of soul.

This month, Todd Morgan & the Emblems return for a third season and historian Dr. Michael Fischer will speak on the history of the Nevada Buckaroo at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.

Jordan T brought the flair and funk during the fourth annual Levitt AMP Carson City outdoor Music Series on Saturday.

Attendees by the hundreds filled the Change Companies Stage on Minnesota St. at the Brewery Arts Center to soak in a warm summer night with a pair of terrific live performances.

Heading into Father’s Day weekend, there's plenty of jam-packed activities around the Carson City region. There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

We have comedian Travis Tate headlining the Carson Comedy Club Friday & Saturday. The doors open up at 7:15 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 each and available at the Winners Club inside the Carson Nugget or at www.ccnugget.com.

Following the show, we have Northern Nevada funk band, Soul Kiss, performing at The Loft inside the Carson Nugget. The party starts at 9 p.m.
