Thanksgiving Day has came and went but the gratitude felt and the impact of the volunteers who made the dinner at a The Plaza Event Center in Carson City, will last all season long.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Bryan Bibee, representing Kiwanis International, a service club with chapters in more than 80 countries and geographic areas around the world. Affiliated clubs make up a total of 600,000 members, who raise in excess of $100 million each year and donate 18.5 million volunteer hours in support of important community projects.

KNVC 95.1 FM Your Carson City community radio station seeks the support of local business. The locally-grown, nonprofit radio station, which can be found on the radio dial and online here, boasts an on-air studio and 2 production studios that hosts a schedule of syndicated and locally produced news and music shows, staffed by local volunteers.

CARSON CITY — Xquisite is thrilled to announce its third annual golf tournament, set to take place on Oct. 2, 2023, at the picturesque Toiyabe Golf Club in Washoe Valley. The team is eager to host this year's event, building on the success of previous tournaments.

Xquisite is a non-profit dedicated to walking alongside survivors of human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Xquisite educates and spreads awareness of the reality of these cases in our own communities.

Last week, The Nevada Women's Fund (NWF) awarded FISH their Annual Community Grant of $25,000.

This grant award will be devoted to the FISH Student Housing project and help alleviate the housing costs for women living within. This way, the women can focus on their higher education without the burden of housing costs which will empower their learning potential, uplift families out of generational poverty, and strengthen the community. This is a major recognition for FISH with Nevada Women's Fund's support of this first-of-its-kind Nevada pilot program.

“Love Loss and What I Wore”, a low key comedy, is coming to Carson Valley Community Theatre (CVCT) opening on September 15 and playing for two weekends.

A cast of five women enrobed in chic black sit on stools and tell funny, wistful and universal memories about their families and loved ones through the prism of their closets.

A tradition since 1988, Carson High Safe Grad was started by the community following a series of alcohol-related graduation night incidents and deaths. Safe Grad is an all-night graduation party held at the Carson City Community Center celebrating students completing their education while also preventing the use of alcohol and drugs, including drunk driving.

Once inside the Community Center, graduates enjoy free, fun and safe entertainment, music, and food. The next morning, there is an optional (fee based) round trip to California Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

Kids & Horses is excited to be hosting our 10th annual fundraiser golf tournament at the beautiful Incline Village Championship Course on June 5th. Enjoy a beautiful day at the lake with your friends, and golf for a great cause! This is our largest fundraiser event of the year, and all proceeds go directly towards keeping our programs and facilities open for our community.

The Carson High Safe Grad Safe & Sober 5k has become an annual tradition held on the first (or second) weekend of February; this year the race will be held on April 2, 2022.

This 5K run/walk is the biggest fundraiser put on by the Carson High Safe Grad Booster and we rely solely on local businesses to sponsor the 5K as well as donate great raffle prizes for the event.

We’ll be accepting donations for Johnny Seaver of Hard Knox tattoos who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The funds will go to help Johnny and his family pay for medical care. At a meeting recently, Carson City Democrats celebrated the fund raising efforts of its First Annual Plein Air Watercolor Competition. There was a $3,000 donation made to the C.I.R.C.L.E.S. Initiative for its work combating long term poverty and a $1,000 donation to a long standing scholarship fund at WNC targeted for Carson City students.
