CARSON CITY — Due to expected overnight snow and cold weather, the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety are anticipating dangerous road conditions in the Carson City, Washoe County and Douglas County areas on Wednesday morning.

It looks like winter driving conditions are finally here. We are expected to have blizzard like conditions in and around Carson City for the rest of the week. Carson City Sheriff’s Office encourages drivers to be responsible and exercise caution while driving.

As a result of the impending snowstorm, all schools in the Carson City School District will be closed for the entire day Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021. The National Weather Service is predicting one of the most impactful winter storms in recent years to hit our area. Periods of heavy snow and strong winds are expected tonight. On December 14, 2020 Xavier Pierce ran away from his home in Carson City. Xavier is believed to be in the Carson City area and may be riding a red bicycle.

On Thursday morning, December 17, 2020 Xavier’s mother discovered his wet clothing in their garage and it appeared he changed his clothing. Xavier does not have any medical problems and is not considered at risk.

Xavier has returned to his mother’s home on at least two different occasions, the most recent being on January 4, 2021.

Xavier’s mother believes he is coming to the home when she is gone to change clothes.
