Muscle Powered featured at Democratic luncheon

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Donna Inversin, a member of the Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee since 2011. She has been a Muscle Powered board member since 2007, and in the years since has served as the group's president, secretary, treasurer, walk leader and trash mob organizer. The Muscle Powered organization works toward a community where walking and biking, for transportation or recreation, is a way of life. They promote creation of pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly infrastructure by developing and maintaining trails and resources.

Ladies' Mountain Bike Rides with Muscle Powered

Muscle Powered Morning Walk

Beat the heat and get the legs moving with a morning walk on Monday, July 12, 7 a.m. Route will go from the dirt parking lot at Van Patten and Murphy Dr. (behind Western Nevada College) on flat terrain past sage and bitterbrush into the adjoining neighborhood.

Muscle Powered, an award-winning nonprofit that has dedicated itself to safe walking, biking and hiking in Carson City for more than 20 years, is seeking the community's support this #GivingTuesday for its Connect Nevada Trails project.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will get underway at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, for Carson City Mayor and native Nevadan Robert “Bob” Crowell.

UPDATE: On Wednesday, by executive order, Governor Steve Sisolak ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and State public buildings and grounds from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, October 29, 2020 as a mark of solemn respect and in remembrance of Carson City Mayor and native Nevadan Robert “Bob” Crowell, whose memorial is being held Thursday.

Five Carson City residents vying for Ward 3 seat on Board of Supervisors, appointment on Nov. 4

Bike Month has always been a cornerstone for Muscle Powered to bring community together every May to share our love of biking. Back in March, as we began to watch the COVID-19 outbreak unfurl in the United States, we held out hope that we could still come together to celebrate as usual.

The buzz around Carson City as designated Bee City No. 76

You might have heard that Carson City is now a Bee City. But what does that mean, how did it happen, and how can you help?

What happened is that a small group of committed beekeepers decided to approach the city with the idea, and then worked tirelessly for two years with Carson City Board of Supervisors and Mayor Bob Crowell to develop an organization committed to protecting pollinator habitat within the city boundaries.

The monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk takes place Saturday followed by a performance from Tom Petty and Rod Stewart tribute bands during The Do Drop In’s “A Face in the Crowd” homeless fundraiser at Fuji Park. Events lined up feature morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered, Carson City TRIAD will give a presentation at the senior center on scams targeting older adults.
