Spring has sprung, but apparently Mother Nature didn’t get the memo. Join the Carson Victory Rollers at the Carson Mall and take part in an indoor wine walk and rummage sale. Help Hot Spot Yoga and Fitness for Life celebrate their grand opening with free classes, health vendors, a 5K run, and more. Hit the dance floor with the High Sierra Swing Dance Club; their monthly dance party is held in the Grand Ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center. Warren Elliott went missing Friday afternoon while going for a walk after doing trail rehab work ahead of the Jeep Jamboree along the Rubicon 4x4 trail. Since then, up to 100 searchers a day from 10 agencies from across the state have been looking for the 70-year-old man.

Our Pet of the Week is Tyson! Tyson is a seven-year-old pup who is cute as a button. We are not quite sure why he is still here with us because he really is a PERFECT pet - he loves people, has lived with kids and cats, was housetrained previously, enjoys walks, and rides well in the car. His favorite game is fetch!

Heavy rain and thunderstorms prompted the National Weather Service to issue Wednesday a Flash Flood Warning for Douglas County.

With threats of heavy rain and thunderstorms Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for Carson City and surrounding counties. Douglas County is already under a flash flood warning.

Carson City School Board trustees approved a new proposed policy Tuesday regarding the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the district, and discussed implementation tactics for educators.

The purpose of the policy is to develop guidance on how to “responsibly embrace” AI as it can be a “powerful tool and partner in the learning process.”

Registration is open for Carson City Symphony's after-school string instrument instruction and youth chorus programs. Classes will begin in September at five locations in Carson City.

UPDATE 12:30PM: The roadway is now open, according to NHP. One person died, three persons were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

It’s been over seven months since Carl’s Jr. was announced to be taking over the building most recently occupied by Arnulfo’s Mexican Restaurant, but since then, there’s been only crickets.

Carnelian Bay West Beach and Patton Landing Beach will both remain closed after a sewer line break near Carnelian Bay dumped untreated sewage into Lake Tahoe last week.

NV Energy reports more than 14,300 customers are without power across Douglas County on Tuesday afternoon.

The Carson City Community Development Department is advising that someone is sending falsified invoices to customers and requesting that the funds be wired to a bank account. The invoices are sent by email, and the sender impersonates a member of the City’s staff.

There are currently 103 animals being housed at the Carson City campus of the Nevada Humane Society following a large influx of stray pickups whose owners have not come looking for them.

In total, there are 53 dogs, 49 cats, and two rabbits looking for homes.

UPDATE: The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office on Monday said it is investigating vandalism that was done to multiple political signs in the Dayton area and theft of signs in Silver Springs.

Two were arrested Sunday for felony possession of having personal identifying information such as IDs, birth certificates and passports that didn't belong to them, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

UPDATE: Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Marine units and dive team, along with the Nevada Department of Wildlife, on Monday located and recovered the individual reported missing on July 21, 2024 on Topaz Lake in southern Douglas County.
