We are gathering together some of northern Nevada’s funniest dads to celebrate dad humor and recount hilarious stories of fatherhood.

The Brewery Arts Center is hosting Night of 1000 Dad Jokes: A Stand-Up Comedy Showcase by Dads on Tuesday, June 20 at 7 pm (doors at 6:30) at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, located at 511 W. King St. Carson City.

This all ladies line-up of Northern Nevada’s best stand-up comedians celebrates mothers in the truest way possible: two weeks late for Mother’s Day. What do you need to get in the holiday spirit? Carson City probably has it covered. Watch ‘A Christmas Wish’ with Jimmy Durante at the monthly meeting of the Carson City Classic Cinema Club. Let the talented kids of ‘Strings in the Schools’ entertain you with their annual ‘This is Not a Christmas Concert’ Concert at the Community Center. If you need some bowl-full-of-jelly belly laughs, then the Super Santa Extravaganza, featuring some of the area’s funniest stand-up comics, is for you. You’ll find that in the Brewery Arts Center Black Box Theater. For a good dose of Christmas lights, head to the Johnson Lane area. Off Stephanie Lane, on Chaparral Court, is a spectacular display known as Nevada Christmas.

Start the day making something beautiful. The Muscle Powered Trash Mob descends upon our new downtown for some clean-up and coffee. Kids will enjoy the Tales and Wags program at the Library where they get to read to therapy dogs and acquire a new book in the process. It’s a Carson/Douglas Army/Navy rivalry as the JROTC programs hit the field at Carson High for a game of flag football. Keep reading and you’re sure to find something that sounds fun.

Geeks Who Drink Trivia at Westside Pour House, an open mic and jam at Firkin and Fox, and Jazz with Judith and Rocky at Living the Good Life all prove to be a good time. The Mayoral and Board of Supervisor candidates take the stage at the Brewery Art Center Performance Hall for another voter’s forum; the ballot question on Gas Tax Indexing will be discussed as well.
