Spooner Lake Visitor Center and other improvements coming, bidders sought

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. — Spooner Lake is one of Nevada’s most popular places to hike, mountain bike, ride horses or simply enjoy nature, and welcomes more than 150,000 visitors every year. On Thursday, the Nevada Division of State Parks is pleased to launch the bidding process for the park’s much-anticipated Spooner Lake Improvement Project, which involves a complete redesign and update of the facilities, including construction of a visitor center and amphitheater.

November Wine Walk, bike tour, craft fair and more highlight weekend events around Carson City

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region. The November Gobble Wine Walk kicks off in downtown Carson City followed by a new “Paths and Pedals” bike tour. Sierra Lutheran High School is also hosting a Christmas craft fair on Saturday. Combined with live music and virtual events, there’s plenty of activity happening in the state capital! America’s Most Beautiful Tour de Tahoe Postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19

The combined 29th Annual America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride, that was postponed to merge with the 18th Annual Tour de Tahoe, scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2020 has been postponed to their traditional dates in 2021.

Meet at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Rd, Carson City. in the south parking lot, next to the Linear Ditch Trail.

Ride will normally consist of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each. The ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but will usually be about a 12-16 mph pace.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.
