Seniors Eating Well is a free online nutrition class for seniors. The series of nine lessons offered through Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties begins on February 2, 2021 and ends on March 2, 2021.

The 121st annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count will be held this Saturday Jan. 2, 2021. This event is counting all birds with a 15 mile diameter circle covering the area contained approximately by the Carson River on the north, the Pine Nut foothills on the East, Bodie Flats on the South and Foothill Road on the West.

Is beekeeping on your bucket list? Need help getting started. A one-day workshop for beginning beekeepers will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the Catholic Center, 311 Virginia St, Yerington, Nev. The workshop is focused and designed for individuals with little or no beekeeping experience.

Carson High School's NJROTC Drill and Color Guard team competed in their first ever ‘virtual’ drill competition hosted by University of North Carolina ROTC program. The various teams’ performances were captured on video and sent to the University for judging.

CARSON CITY — Eagle Valley Middle School went "dough to dough" in the Parent Teacher Organization’s annual cookie dough fundraiser. In total, the gross sales were equivalent to more than $15,597. The school earned about 70 percent of total gross sales, bringing the net total to $11,034. A total of 888 units were sold.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region. The November Gobble Wine Walk kicks off in downtown Carson City followed by a new “Paths and Pedals” bike tour. United Federal Credit Union is excited to announce a new two-year partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. As part of the partnership, United donated $4,000 to the Club and has pledged to donate another $4,000 in 2021.

The Mile High Jazz Band Association presents a jazz-related drive-in movie, “High Society,” on Wednesday, August 19, and Thursday, August 20, as part of the 2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and Court Appointed Special Advocate are having a community event dedicated to Pokemon Go and family fun. The event includes playing Pokemon Go, a scavenger hunt, a costume contest, raffle prizes, and so much more.

Beginning tonight, family summer drive-in movies begin in Carson City and will show weekly, Wednesday and Thursday evenings through August 13 in the parking lot of the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall. Space is limited and RSVP is required.

We are traveling the world this year! During the 5-day art camp students ages 5-10 will “visit” Asia, South America, Europe, Africa, and Australia to experience the art, culture, and music of these continents. Each day of the week will focus on the art and traditions of each of the continents. Each camper will have their “passport” stamped daily and will design a “travel bag” for all of their camp art projects.
