Don't miss the Pollinator Parade from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the south end of the Carson City Farmers Market at the corner of Telegraph and Fall Street (East of the Nugget).

Costumed birds, bees, butterflies, bats and all other pollinators are welcome to join a one-mile parade route along with the businesses that have supported Pollinator Month.

Carson High Safe Grad has announced its lineup plans, events and even gifts for the senior class of 2021.

It was an eventful year around the Carson City region notwithstanding the limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's some notable stories that were not pandemic related that happened in 2020.

With the closing of 2020 the new year will bring in a parade of winter storms for the Sierra, Carson City area and western Nevada, according to the National Weather Service.

MINDEN — After consultation with the Douglas County Officials, the Towns, public safety agencies, and Douglas County Emergency Management it was determined in-person public holiday events at the Towns of Gardnerville, Genoa, and Minden, as well as the 25th Annual Parade of Lights hosted by the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce have been cancelled.

Historic Virginia City has always placed a strong emphasis on supporting those who have served our country. A walk down the wooden board sidewalks demonstrates this in the many memorial flags of those who gave their lives in service. Because honoring our veterans is so important, Virginia City will be holding a Veterans Day Cruise today, Wednesday, Nov. 11 beginning at 11 a.m. on C Street.

There wasn't an official Nevada Day parade in the state capital this year, but Western Nevada College's "Reverse Parade" in Carson City brought some festivities on Saturday.

The Nevada Day Committee got it wrong this year. By selecting "My Favorite Nevada Moment" as the theme for 2020, the committee has left people like me out.

I can't whittle my experiences in Nevada down to just one favorite.

Heading into the final weekend of October, Halloween and Nevada Day events will keep revelers busy through Sunday making for a jam packed weekend of fun for families and grownups around the Carson City region.

The annual Nevada Day Chili feed at the Carson Nugget and a historic east-side tour of Carson City are among two new events have been added to this weekend's roster of Nevada Day festivities.

With Nevada Day festivities rolling this week without the coveted official parade along Carson Street, some have noted on social media their intention to rally their own independent parades.

While not illegal or encouraged, the Carson City Sheriff's Office is staffed up to make sure that whoever chooses to do anything non-sanctioned, including independent parading on Carson Street, that whatever they choose to do is done without breaking the law.

The Nevada Day Golf Tournament, scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 24, is quickly selling out, but there are a few spaces left to enjoy the first event of its kind in over a decade.

The Brewery Arts Center has teamed up with Carson City Toyota, Western Nevada College, and the Carson City Classic Cinema Club to present the inaugural “Made in Nevada” Film Festival, double feature drive-in movies on Oct. 30 and 31, 2020 at the Western Nevada College campus.

Each October, Nevadans turn their attention to the state capitol, Carson City, home of the “official” Nevada Day Parade. Since 1938, the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City has been an annual coming together to celebrate Nevada’s heritage and the founding of this great state on October 31, 1864.

Heading into the weeknd, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. Local business Wizard of Pawz grooming salon hosts a socially-distanced grand opening on Saturday afternoon, followed by a pool tournament at Bulldog Billiards at 6 p.m. Combined with live music and karaoke, the state capitol will be packed with excitement! Despite the Nevada Day Parade being cancelled this year, there are many Nevada Day events still happening, and one of them is the popular Nevada Day Treasure Hunt!

This Sunday, Oct. 4, Biden supporters in Northern Nevada will be #RaftingForBiden along the Truckee River. Supporters have organized this socially distant outdoor event to show support for the Vice President and Senator Harris and to register volunteers for the campaign. Once on a downward spiral, golf has become the sport du jour for those seeking to be outdoors in a safe environment where friends can meet and socially distance while getting needed exercise. Realizing the renewed interest in golf, the Carson City Chamber is taking the golf tournament to the next level.

Before COVID-19 hit the capital city, Trick or Treating had been changed to Friday, Oct. 30 since the Nevada Day Parade was falling on Oct. 31 this year.

Despite the parade being cancelled, Trick or Treating is still going to be held Oct. 30 at this time, unless otherwise directed by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak.

The Nevada Day Golf Tournament is returning to Carson City this Nevada Day after a long absence from the capital city.

According to Ken Hamilton, Executive Director of Nevada Day, the Golf Tournament is making a comeback this year for the first time in over a decade.

The historic mining town of Virginia City is regarded as one of America’s most haunted cities. This October 31 and throughout the month, uncover spooky tales and festive family adventures for all ages – all aligned to accommodate current restrictions and guidelines – during “Hauntober.”
