I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: March 25 - 26
Spring has sprung, but apparently Mother Nature didn’t get the memo. Join the Carson Victory Rollers at the Carson Mall and take part in an indoor wine walk and rummage sale. Help Hot Spot Yoga and Fitness for Life celebrate their grand opening with free classes, health vendors, a 5K run, and more. Hit the dance floor with the High Sierra Swing Dance Club; their monthly dance party is held in the Grand Ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center. - Guided Hike at Washoe Lake State Park - Meet at the Maze parking lot, first parking lot on the right after the fee booth (10am-12pm; This is a strenuous 2.7 mile guided hike with an elevation gain of 620 feet into the hills above Deadman’s Creek; Please bring plenty of water and snacks, wear good hiking boots, and dress in layers for the weather; park entrance fee $7 per vehicle, $5 for NV residents)
- Winter Art Show in the Nevada Artists Association Gallery at the Brewery Arts Center (10am-4pm)
- Half-off Everything at the Carson City Senior Center Thrift Shop: 911 Beverly Drive (10am-3:30pm; includes Boutique and Furniture; benefits the Meals on Wheels Program)
- Saturday Cinema: "True Grit" at the Minden Library: 1625 Library Lane, Minden (10:30am; 1969 Version; Free coffee and treats will be provided; this movie is geared toward teens and adults)
Douglas County kids get to exercise their green thumbs at Heritage Park during ‘Kids Gardening Day.’ Everyone is invited to the reception honoring the Women in History Remembering Project at the Douglas County Museum and Cultural Center.

- Women in History Remembering Project 2017 Reception at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, Gardnerville (doors open 1pm, presentation at 2pm; free, refreshments will be served; The annual project commemorates Women's History Month. We will be honoring Douglas County women who have made a significant historical contribution to the quality of life in Douglas County. There will be an exhibit designed around the photos and memorabilia related to the honorees.)
- Fourth Annual Chili Cook Off at the Spoke Bar and Grill (registration 2:30pm, $10; judging 3:30pm, public tasting 4pm, winners announced 5pm; contestants can plug in crockpots beginning at 2pm)
- Silver City Arts Group Monthly Acoustic Jam at the Silver City School House Community Center: 175 High St., Silver City (cancelled for March)
- History Talk: Snowshoe Thompson at the Mormon Station State Park, Genoa - Meet at the Snowshoe Thompson Statue (4pm; free; Sometimes referred to as the “Viking of the Sierras,” this celebrated outdoorsman delivered mail from Genoa to Placerville during treacherous winter storms)
Battle of the Bars Karaoke at Empire Ranch Golf Course pits teams of four against each other for bragging rights and cash prizes. For some quiet time with your sweetheart, Date Night at Comma Coffee features a special menu and the musical stylings of Me and Bobby McGee.

- Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride - Meet in the south parking lot of Fremont Elementary School, next to the Linear Ditch Trail (meet at 9am; consists of two loops 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles; ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but usually about 12-16 mph; All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and closed toed shoes.
