Fitness on the Wire: After Turkey Day
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 6:09pmOvereating at Thanksgiving means four days of overindulgence. It’s long enough to set a pattern for life. Thanksgiving dinner alone brings with it about five thousand calories, that’s a lot of eating. We overeat to relieve tension, and there is sure enough of that to go around at Thanksgiving. Relatives who haven’t seen each other for years get together for ego mashing over the potatoes. You end up with a migraine and a killer desire for pie. And we were born with overdeveloped guilt feelings regarding pie.

States Cut But Still No Budget Gluts
Submitted by Nevada News Bureau on Mon, 09/26/2011 - 2:03pmFor the first time in 10 years, states cut taxes more than they increased them, according to a preliminary report released last week by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).
But voters should not draw hasty conclusions about what this means for states’ fiscal health. Most states continued to face substantial budget shortfalls during their 2011 legislative sessions, even though some states saw revenue collections increase.
