Under the newest safety guidelines, and due to space limitations, the in-person class now accommodates 10 people and advance registration is required.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless is hosting its 11th annual nationwide pet food and supply drive over the next three days, and there is plenty of live music for all to enjoy! The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Patricia Ackerman, Democratic candidate for Nevada's 2nd Congressional District (CD-2). An Emerge Nevada graduate, Patricia ran an aggressive Assembly campaign against District 39 Republican Jim Wheeler in 2018.

Pioneer High School is a public high school in the Carson City School District. All 9th-12th grade CCSD students are encouraged to enroll. PHS is accredited through AdvancED and has been recognized by the Nevada Department of Education as a “Highlighted School” for achievement in 2011 and 2018. Students at PHS have been able to earn an Associate’s Degree from WNC along with their high school diploma free of charge.

Patt Quinn-Davis, Carson High School Language Arts teacher and adviser of the school newspaper and Carneta yearbook, is retiring. For Quinn-Davis, the publications staff became a part of her family every year and even more so when students stayed with the program throughout their high school careers.

It is hard to believe that two months ago we were all going about business as usual, going to the mall, to the gym, seeing family and friends and having dinner together at our favorite restaurant. Partnership Carson City’s online yoga Monday has been moved to 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. The free Wellness Yoga series going virtual is part of an effort to continue to provide a needed respite with the ongoing limitations as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19).

As most of us in Nevada are starting out our second week of being socially distant and staying at home for Nevada, some of us may be starting to feel the mental effects of being isolated. We may feel lonely, tired of our isolation mates (no matter how much we love our families), and/or craving the social connection that comes from going to our jobs and offices as we work from home and remotely or not working due to being classified as non essential.

Partnership Carson City is going virtual with its yoga series in an effort to continue to provide a needed respite with the ongoing limitations as a result of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

On Wednesday, the Nevada Health Response Center (NHRC) released the COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Initiative listing of essential services and sectors and non-essential services and sectors. The release includes social distancing measure.

Gov. Steve Sisolak’s request Tuesday night for all non-essential businesses in the state, including casinos, to close their doors for 30 days in order to avoid further spread of the novel coronavirus has been met with some confusion over what is and isn’t an “essential” business.

Carson City Yoga will be closed as of March 15th. All classes are canceled through the end of March. The Open House that had been scheduled for March 21st has also been postponed. Time flies as the sun shines going into the last Monday in February. Expect daytime highs around 60.
