CARSON CITY, Nev. — Each passing month gets us closer to golf time! The Silver Oak Senior Men’s Golf Club has officially teed it up for the 2021 golf season. SOSMGC is open to golfers 55 years of age and older and all handicap levels.

The first meeting of the year for the Carson City Republican Women's Club will be Tuesday, January 19 at Casino Fandango. The guest speaker will be Janet Freixas, President of the Nevada Federation of Republican Women.

Social hour begins at 11:00a.m. and the lunch meeting at 11:30a.m.

Is beekeeping on your bucket list? Need help getting started. A one-day workshop for beginning beekeepers will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the Catholic Center, 311 Virginia St, Yerington, Nev. The workshop is focused and designed for individuals with little or no beekeeping experience.

Katie Leao, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, will be the guest speaker at this week’s Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. The virtual meeting takes place on Tuesday, December 1, at 12:30 via ZOOM.

At his most recent press conference, the governor declared many of us as COVID fatigued. The Carson City Chamber has partnered with the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada to temporarily reduce some of the fatigue by organizing a bit of Halloween golf and fun for those who just want to enjoy the outdoors while practicing all the current COVID safety protocols.

Since winter is right around the corner, there may not be many chances left to play golf.

The Nevada Day Golf Tournament, scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 24, is quickly selling out, but there are a few spaces left to enjoy the first event of its kind in over a decade.

The Carson City School District’s Nutrition Services is pleased to announce it has been approved for the U.S. Department of Agriculture waiver to provide free lunch and breakfast for all children 18 and under through the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year (June 2021).

Hello fellow anglers, Fall is definitely here. Renee and I took a trip through Alpine County last week to enjoy the fall colors. Many trees have turned, while others are just starting to get their true colors.

To get a good look at the viewing, venture up through Highway 88 from Woodfords to Caples Lake. Another good area of fall color viewing is from Woodfords on Highway 89 up to Kinney reservoir on Highway 4 .

Once on a downward spiral, golf has become the sport du jour for those seeking to be outdoors in a safe environment where friends can meet and socially distance while getting needed exercise. Realizing the renewed interest in golf, the Carson City Chamber is taking the golf tournament to the next level.

In celebration of National Public Lands Day, Nevada State Parks will have a fee-free day on Saturday filled with hikes and tours. CARSON CITY — Children who would have received free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program have received a one-time refund for the cost of school lunches that were missed this spring due to COVID-related school closures.
