Spring has sprung, but apparently Mother Nature didn’t get the memo. Join the Carson Victory Rollers at the Carson Mall and take part in an indoor wine walk and rummage sale. Help Hot Spot Yoga and Fitness for Life celebrate their grand opening with free classes, health vendors, a 5K run, and more. Hit the dance floor with the High Sierra Swing Dance Club; their monthly dance party is held in the Grand Ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center. On a warm and breezy Friday night, Bill Witt and his family, friends, and others came by the Red Wing Shoe Store at 444 E William Street in Carson City to join in the celebration of the store he now owns after having been an employee.

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to a crash on I-80 at mile marker 279 in Elko County, near the junction with State Route 278, a mile west of the Central Carlin exit, the crash happened Wednesday, July 31, 2:12 p.m.

Since April 15, 2024 the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating the disappearance of 25-year-old Sara Fliliatraut. The investigation led to the discovery of Ms. Filiatraut’s remains in a remote area of Churchill County on May 22, 2024. An autopsy performed by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Ms. Filiatraut’s death as a homicide.

The annual Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club President’s Cup tournament took place July 16 and July 18 at the Genoa Lakes Golf Club Ranch and Lakes Courses. Thirty members competed in the two-day, net tournament. Terri Ianiro was the winner, with a net score of 133. Kory Miller was the runner-up, with a score of 134.

More than 500 people cast over 1500 votes for their favorite entry in the Nevada Artists Association Spirit of America Show. The winner was Pawsitive Power, a 36"x 48" oil painting by Maggie Stillwell. This painting will be on display and for sale through September 6. CARSON CITY — The Nevada Army National Guard joined the fight to halt the progression of western wildfires in California on Monday.

There have been several rumors and public requests over the years to fill the old K-Mart building. Recently, calls for a Winco, Whole Foods, a second Target, an indoor go-cart track, and even a homeless shelter have been brought up. However, since the store shuttered in 2006, there’s been little to no movement on rebranding it.

Now, the Carson City Planning Commission will be hearing a proposal on bringing new businesses into the space.
