I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: Nov. 5 – 6
October is behind us and this November weekend kicks off the holiday season with craft fairs, art shows, and plenty of fun. Get a jump on those New Year’s resolutions by participating in the first of the ‘Be Bold, Run in the Cold’ 5 or 10K runs that Ascent Runs is sponsoring. - Coffee and Donuts with Experimental Aircraft Association, Sierra Chapter 403 at 2500 E. College Pkwy, Ste 403 (8am-12pm, all welcome)
- Cold Turkey Run: 8th Annual Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series presented by Ascent Runs- begins at Jacks Valley Elementary School (West Lot): 701 Jacks Valley Road (race begins 9am; registration $25, students $15 cash or card only; All runners, whether pre-registered or not, must check in race morning; Walkers are welcome; Combination of jeep trail and single track trail. Probably some technical sections and steep climbs. Great views of Jobs Sister, Jobs and Freel Peak; Every run in the series will have two distances to choose from, a 5K and a 10K+)
- Annual Craftique Open House at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church: 1201 N. Saliman Road (9am-4pm; handcrafted items by local artisans)
- Winter Wonderland Craft Faire and Bake Sale at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church: 1375 Centerville Ln, Gardnerville (9am-4pm, story time with Santa from 10:30am-1:30pm; lunch available for $5)
- RMEF Veteran's Day Sporting Clays Competition at the Capital City Gun Club: 3590 Arrowhead Dr (9am; General Shooters $85, Vets/Active Military $65; prizes, raffles, and games)
- Breakfast and Bowl at Carson Lanes (9am-12pm; breakfast and unlimited bowling until noon $13, $8 kids 12 and younger)
- Holiday Craft Fair at Browsers Corner Bookstore (9:30am-6pm; sponsored by Friends of the Carson City Library)
- Friends of the Carson City Library Fall Food Drive at Browser’s Corner Book Store: 711 E. Washington (9:30am-6pm; free book coupon with donation – one per day, does not include $5 hardbacks; Benefits the Ron Wood Family Resource Center)
- Elks Annual Hoop Shoot Contest at the Douglas County Community Center Gymnasium, Gardnerville (9:30am registration, 10am competition begins; Free; open to all boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 13 years old; six different age Divisions)
- Last Day: Carson Mall Fine Arts Faire (10am-8:30pm; Over 25 artists in several mediums will be showing at the mall; live music)
Art is everywhere in Carson City. New murals along Telegraph Street, galleries inside the Visitor Center and Brewery Arts Center, a Fine Arts Faire in the Carson Mall, and a pop up exhibit at the Westside Pour House featuring local tattoo artists are just a few options. Take a moment at the Carson City Art Gallery; you’ll find out what Nevada looked like when it was covered by the historic Lake Lahontan.

- Monthly meeting of F.E.A.T. (Families for Effective Autism Treatment) in the back room at Comma Coffee (10:30am)
- Swim Class for Kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the Carson City Aquatic Facility (11am; $4)
- Intero's Second Annual Chili Cook-Off at Intero Real Estate: 1362 Hwy 395 N, Gardnerville – across from Raley’s (11am-3pm; $5 per person for tasting; silent auction, live music; benefit for the Douglas Co. Community and Senior Center)
- Family Day at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center: 1477 Hwy 395, Gardnerville (10am-2pm; 10am-12pm demonstrations on cookie decorating, building gingerbread houses and making water-less snow globes; free admission)
- Tales and Wags Therapy Dogs at the Carson City Library (11am-12pm; Participants can read to the dogs and will receive a free book; under 9 yrs old must be accompanied by someone 13+)
- WARF Cat and Kitten Adoption Event at Petco on Topsy Lane (11am-4pm; all cats are fixed, vaccinated and micro-chipped)

Here comes Santa Claus, and not how you’d expect him. The High Desert Divers bring Ole St. Nick to the Carson pool for an underwater photo op. For a more traditional picture, the Winter Wonderland Craft Faire and Bake Sale at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville is for you.
- WNC Wildcats Men’s Soccer vs University of Nevada, Reno at the John L. Harvey Field at Western Nevada College (12pm; $6/$3 kids, free for WNC students with valid ID; final Fall Season home game; Women’s Soccer to follow)
- ’Nests, Dams, and Burrows’ Program at Dayton State Park (1pm-2pm, please arrive 10 minutes early; $7 per vehicle, $5 for NV residents; This family program will focus on wildlife along the Carson River. We will have examples of local wildlife and go on a short walk along the river to look for wildlife signs)

There is only one last home game for the men and women of Western Nevada College’s new soccer program. Watch them take on the University of Nevada, Reno and cheer on the Wildcats.
