In these different times, The Greenhouse Project will host the annual Celebrity Chef Dinner as a 'MaskurAid Ball' on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at Cucina Lupo in Carson city due to a last minute glitch at the Governor's Mansion. Carson City Chamber golf tournament raises $2,100 for Children’s Museum

On a beautiful Northern Nevada day, werewolves, pirates, escaped prisoners, witches, scuba divers, a Top Gun Tom Cruise look-alike, and other costumed creatures came out in force on Friday, October 30th to play in the Halloween Golf Scramble held at Silver Oak Golf to support the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce.

Lyon County Senior Centers join 'March for Meals' campaign to fight hunger, isolation among aging

Lyon County Senior Centers in Dayton, Fernley, Silver Springs and Yerington announced Wednesday that they will be participating in the 18th annual March for Meals – a month-long, nationwide celebration of Meal on Wheels and our senior neighbors who rely on the vital service to remain healthy and independent at home. Lyon County Senior Centers celebrations will include various activities throughout the month of March.

Price of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Please come hungry! During our family friendly event we will be hosting our silent auction comprised of items donated by many businesses’ in the Northern Nevada area.

We will also be drawing the winner of our annual 50/50 raffle; the winner will receive 50 percent of the proceeds and the winners of the raffles from years past have made anywhere from $600- $1000.

Seventh Annual 'Empty Bowls' in Carson City kicks off Saturday evening

The annual Empty Bowls fundraising night is underway and will continue throughout Saturday night.

Empty Bowls is an “international grassroots effort” to fight hunger around the world.

In our local community, volunteers work throughout the year to create handcrafted bowls. Each year, hundreds of bowls are crafted in Carson City for the purpose of the fundraiser.

Carson City Veterans to hold Spaghetti Feed, Silent Auction on Dec.13

Western Nevada Wildcat Veterans are partnering with Wildcat Den Café for a Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser and Silent Auction on Dec. 13 in Carson Nugget Hall.

The cost is $10 per plate and the feed and auction will happen from 3 to 8 p.m.

The majority of donations collected will go toward providing a financial hardship gift for veterans attending WNC. The remaining donation funds will be used to support the club’s future events.

Partly sunny skies and cool temperatures are expected Thursday with a warmup in time for the weekend. Events ahead around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, a discussion on holiday stress and dementia offered by Carson Tahoe Expressions Memory Care, and an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered. Also ahead, Carson City's GOP will host a discussion with several political leaders representing the capital city. Fundraiser tonight in Dayton, Saturday in Carson City for young girl battling brain tumor

Tonight, (Wednesday night) in Dayton, the Sutro Elementary School Boosters Club will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for a student, Maliya Gafford, who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. A fundraiser is also planned for this Saturday in Carson City.

The dinner tonight is from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Sutro Elementary School multipurpose room, 190 Dayton Village Pkwy, Dayton.

The cost is $5. There will be a raffle, silent auction and a bake sale. Boosters will have a donation box in the office if you are unable to attend but would like to help.
