Carson City’s newest boutique “Fat Amy’s” opened its doors on the most beautiful wine walk of the year this Saturday.

Offering a selection of unique retro-inspired clothing, make up, purses, home decor and more, Fat Amy’s is located at 318 Carson Street above Battle Born.

Initially, I collected many of the Arts and Crafts as well as WPA Art Deco Era American pottery makers in clay before focusing on the American Studio Pottery Movement. And from my collecting, I have always sought examples that have a timeless design.

Enjoy artwork from our member artists. Membership has risen to nearly 150 local artists during our 40th year operating as a gallery. The Autumn Membership show runs from Sept. 8 to Oct. 18 at Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery at 449 W. King Street in Carson City.

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Did you know that the Carson City Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner and Fundraiser is coming up on Feb. 16 at the Grand Ballroom of Casino Fandango?

We have a 4-course dinner beginning with appetizers at 5 p.m. and a show bringing Nevada history alive with character actress Kim Harris portraying infamous Virginia City prostitute Julia Bulette.

Let me tell you, downtown is going to be hopping, not to mention the Early Season Farmers Market making its seasonal debut in the parking lot at W. Musser and N. Nevada – just behind Due Sorella. Take the kids down to Bailys Pond at Fuji Park for the annual Tom Brooks Memorial Kids’ Fishing Day. A trip to the train museum comes with the opportunity to ride on the Historic McKeen Motor Car.

The second annual Christmas Shopping Extravaganza at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall is taking place on Friday December 8 from 2 to 7 p.m., and Saturday December 9, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A holiday shopping experience for locals with free admission— shoppers can find crafts and home decor, or participate in various raffles and giveaways.

Shortly after receiving national recognition as a mecca for holiday shopping, the Carson City Tourism and Culture Authority is releasing a video showcasing what is available in the capital city.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce, community dignitaries, representatives from the Carson Mall and others gathered Wednesday night at the new Wild Horse Gallery and Decor store inside the Carson Mall.

Sheila Hillebrand's art gallery and decor business on C Street in Virginia City ran out of room pretty quickly, she said.

"I had everything stacked up in the hallway where they could look through it," she said. "But most people don't look through it."

Most of the prints she carried were stacked on the floor because there wasn't the wall space to display them all.

Don’t think that Sundays are just for rest, there is plenty to coax you out of your pajamas today. Take a trip with Santa at the Nevada Railroad Museum. Search for treasures and do your Christmas shopping at Fuji Park today, one of the multiple craft shows in town. Enjoy a free concert at the Community Center courtesy of the Capital City Community Band. Dayton is celebrating a small town Christmas tonight; bust out your best ugly sweater and join the fun. I hope you got your fill of naps last weekend because this weekend is chock full of fun to be had for all. You can Wine Walk until you Holiday Crawl downtown. Take your pick of craft shows in town. Kids won’t want to miss the Santa Train at the State Railroad Museum or one of the two performances of ‘The Peanutcracker’ at the Community Center. Whether you’d like to spend the days indoors or out, there is something for all ages in the Carson City area this weekend.

October is behind us and this November weekend kicks off the holiday season with craft fairs, art shows, and plenty of fun. Shop for Mom for Mother's Day at Fuji Park in Carson City on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mother's Day Craft Fair.
