Early this year, Carson Tahoe Health began to pivot service lines and conserve personal protective equipment (PPE).

Carson City Sheriff's Office: 3 confess to BB gun rampage causing more than $10K in damages

Between Sunday, Dec. 6 and Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to 26 reports of Carson City homes, vehicles and a government building being shot with a BB gun causing broken windows and vehicle body damage. The dollar amount of the damage caused is more than $10,000.

Fall train rides, 'Light after Dark' fitness event, live music and more highlight Carson City area weekend events

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Fall-themed train rides from the Virginia Truckee Railroad Company and the Nevada State Railroad Museum will be available on Saturday and Sunday. A virtual “Light After Dark” fitness event will be held on Saturday to support the Carson City-based Advocated to End Domestic Violence program. CARSON CITY — Small businesses and non-profits in Nevada are now able to apply for the state’s commercial rental assistance grant program, established through the State Treasurer’s Office and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. The program begins today, Monday, August 24.

Humane Society adjusts 'Adopt a Duck' fundraiser, $10K or car from Carson City Toyota goes to grand prize winner

Each year, the community gathers along the banks of the Truckee River to watch as hundreds of tiny yellow rubber ducks float across the water, and viewers cheer them on.

Adopt a Duck is one of the Nevada Humane Society’s biggest fundraising events of the year, and this year despite COVID-19, it will continue! However, instead of participants gathering on the banks, this year’s event will be live streamed from the Reno Shelter on August 29 at 12 p.m. and will consist of adorable shelter dogs and cats doing adorable activities.

During the annual “State of the City” address Friday at Gold Dust West, Carson City’s Mayor Bob Crowell gave his last speech of its kind, as he is retiring at the end of this year.

The State of the City address is a way community members can be kept up to date on everything going on in our capital city, including achievements, challenges, and everything in between.

Updates included achievements such as the completion of the water pipeline from Douglas County to Carson City, the Complete Streets Project, Tesla’s grant for the Carson City School District, the first new park opening in 12 years, the opening of the Disc Golf course, and more.

Carson City Symphony receives $10K National Endowment for the Arts grant

The National Endowment for the Arts recently announced Art Project Grants distributed to all 50 states, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and Carson City, Reno and Las Vegas were the beneficiaries in Nevada.

The state of Nevada received three grants total for a an amount of $45,000. Of the grants, $10,000 went to the Carson City Symphony Association, Inc. to “support a series of concert performances featuring musical traditions of Central and South America.”

Senator Square: Carson High School graduate addresses National Honor Society members

National Honor Society held its induction ceremony Sept. 23 in the CHS Big Gym featuring guest speaker Ryan Costella a 2000 CHS graduate. Costella was an active member of NHS, and this fact influenced his desire to attend college at Villanova University in Philadelphia, PA where he earned degrees in Political Science and English.

Homecoming, first seen in 1911 at the University of Missouri, is a wonderful event celebrated throughout the US at high schools and colleges. Woman sipped juice, put it back on grocery shelf, now held on $10K bail and facing felony drug charge

24-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested in the 3200 block of Market Street at a local department store for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, petit larceny, and two counts of violating pre-trial conditions.

Rumor Kamille Schilling was take into custody after deputies were dispatched to the store after she allegedly took a drink of some juice without paying and put it back on the shelf.

Parade day lifts off in downtown Carson City

The Nevada Day Parade festivities have officially begun Saturday morning with the launch of hot air balloons and start of the Nevada Day 5K/10K run.

The parade's official start time is about 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
