I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: Aug. 4 - 5
Let’s get August off to a good start. The first Saturday of the month always plays host to the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, but with the Jazz and Beyond Musical Festival in full swing, you’ll have even more reasons to meander around downtown. The afternoon ice cream social at the historic Foreman-Roberts House is a perfect family-friendly treat before heading to the Brewery Arts Center for tonight’s free concert. Keep reading, you’ll find a little bit of something for everyone in the Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton and Virginia City areas.
SATURDAY: 15th annual Jazz and Beyond Music Festival
- — Ascent Runs’ Tahoe Dirt & Vert Series: Capital Climb 23 Miler – begins/ends at the Brewery Arts Center (runner check-in AND same day registration 5am-5:45am only - All runners, whether pre-registered or not, must check in race morning; pre-race briefing 5:50am, race start 6am; $85 - cash or card only; The course is approximately 23 miles in length and has over 5600' of climbing)
- — Dayton Pigs Desert Cleanup – Meet where the pavement ends on Enterprise Way in Dayton (8am-10am; There will be a brief sign-in, then we will go over the attack plan: we will be hitting the trails, clearing out couches, appliances, etc – HOT, DIRTY WORK, but we have something for everybody to do; Bring a truck/trailer and/or muscles - We recommend you bring water, sunscreen, a hat, sturdy work gloves, dust mask, and some first aid supplies, and don't wear your favorite shoes; Trash cans, extra trash bags, and shovels are always welcome - If you bring an empty trailer and get it loaded, we'll cover the dump fees; Dayton Pigs is a community effort to rid our beautiful wild spaces of trash left behind from out-of-control illegal dumping - We are always welcoming new members)

The bulk of Hot August Nights activities won’t get revved up for a few days, but Virginia City waits for no one. Head up the hill to enjoy live music, 400 classic cars, a poker run, and more.

Sunday can be ‘funday’ every week, if you know where to look. Breakfast and Bowling at Carson Lanes gives you a break from the kitchen and a break from the cabin fever that the smoke has caused. Jazz and Beyond takes the music to the Capitol with the Retro Radio Dolls and the Reno Jazz Orchestra performing this afternoon and evening on the Legislative Lawn. Bring a picnic, a blanket or chair, and your friends and family for a relaxing concert under the trees.
