The Carson City Historical Society (CCHC) presents a Afternoon Tea, "Victorian Secrets With Tea." Tea will be served in the Carriage House behind the Foreman-Roberts Historic House at 1207 Carson Street, Carson City, on Saturday, April 27, 2024. The event will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The Carson City Historical Society is asking the public for volunteers to help give tours of the famous Foreman-Roberts House in Carson City on Sunday afternoons.

The Carson City Historical Society is hosting a lecture and dinner on Friday, September 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on "Victorian Fashions and Dress Reform" by Jan Loverin of the Marjorie Russell Textile Museum.

Keep Saturday, August 27, open so you can attend a true blockbuster event here in Carson City. It will begin with a fabulous picnic at the Carriage House, catered by John Hurzel of “A Catered Affaire.” Following the best picnic you will ever eat, the premiere performance of ‘The Life of Annie Roberts” will be presented by noted Chautauquan Kim Harris, who has spent over a year researching all the details of the woman who lived in our historical treasure — the Roberts House — and raised her family 50 feet from where you will have lunch.

Carson City Historical Society is proud to host a lecture on the future of the Nevada State Prison called "The Once and Future Prison," on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom. The guest speaker is Glen Whorton, past President of the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society.

The Carson City Historical Society (CCHS) will be open from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. this Sunday, February 6, and plans to be open those same hours on Sundays through April 10. The Society is experimenting with being open again on a limited basis. The address of the Society's two yellow buildings, the Foreman-Roberts House Museum and the Carriage House, is 1207 North Carson St., Carson City.

Monday's Democratic luncheon will feature a presentation by David Bugli, conductor of the Carson City Symphony and leader of the Mile High Jazz Band, which he founded in 1998. He is also Secretary and past President of the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation and Secretary of the Carson City Historical Society.

Carson City Historical Society is proud to present Jonah S. Blustain, BLM Assistant Field Manager, who will present a lecture, "More than a Ghost Town: Cultural Resource Management in the Phantom City of Rhyolite, Nevada" on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.

It was an eventful year around the Carson City region notwithstanding the limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's some notable stories that were not pandemic related that happened in 2020.

The Carson City Historical Society will be hosting a Zoom Memorial for Ron Machado on Saturday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m.

Ron passed away on May 27, 2020.

Ron was the last founding member of the Nevada Landmarks Society, which eventually became the Carson City Historical Society.

The landmark Carson City building that was Cafe at Adele’s at the corner of North Carson and John Street was demolished Wednesday.

According to Shannon Cord with the Carson City Historical Society, the historic Adele’s building will not be saved despite the efforts of many volunteers and contributors.

The historic building suffered a fire in 2019 that, due to smoke damage and insurance issues, was not able to be recovered. It was set for demolition, until a group of activists form the Carson City Historical Society sought to save the building and have it moved to a new location.

The Carson City Historical Society will be holding an open house at the Foreman-Roberts House (the Yellow House), 1207 North Carson Street, Carson City this Sunday, Feb. 23 from 2 to 5 p.m. The Foreman-Roberts House and the Carriage House will both be open for tours.

The Foreman Roberts House will be open one Sunday a month with various exciting displays, the first being the “History of the Foreman Roberts House.”

Both the Foreman Roberts and the Carriage House will be open on Sunday, January 26 from 2-5.

Please help save Adele’s building in Carson City, Nev. There was great pride in our city when the Captain Porter’s House, now Adele’s, was first built. A quote from the newspaper is as follows:

The Carson City Historical Society has recently been thrust into the spotlight because of the proposed demolition of the 155-year old building once occupied by Café at Adele’s and preceding businesses through the years attracting hundreds of customers through those historic doors.

The Carson City Historical Society Board held an emergency meeting on Dec. 21 to discuss the eminent demolition of Adele’s, and strategized on how this historic building could be preserved.

The board voted to pursue a fund raising campaign to work with the community to preserve the 155 year-old Adele’s building at 1112 North Carson Street, Carson City, Nev.

Carson City Historical Society will present a Heritage Festival to celebrate the 50th year of the Society. The event will be held at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum Park, 1207 N. Carson St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019. This is a free event.
