— Muscle Powered Tuesday Morning Walk, Kings Canyon Road. 8 a.m. Join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride around Carson City. Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building. A schedule of all upcoming activities and events can be found at www.musclepowered.org/calendar. Tuesday's walk is the Kingsview Trail. Meet in the parking area on Kings Canyon Road just west of Kingsview Way. Walk the dirt trail behind the homes. Morning walks start at 8 a.m. and are 1 to 2 miles with duration of 1 hour with usually negligible elevation gain, and frequently on paved or smooth paths. — Capital City Arts Initiative Presents: Graphically Defined. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at BRIC, 108 E. Proctor St. Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) is delighted to present Graphically Defined, a group exhibition of work by seventeen Western Nevada College students. This exhibit includes a wide variety of art including ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting and photography that shows the diversity of the students’ creativity. The Business Resource Innovation Center (BRIC) is open Monday-Friday 8:00-12:00 p.m. and 1:00-4:00 p.m.

— Capital City Arts Initiative Presents: New Crop 2019. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carson City Courthouse Gallery, 885 E. Musser St. The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) presents its exhibition, New Crop 2019, by artists Mark Combs and Frances Melhop.

— Nevada State Museum in Carson City offers training days for new volunteers. 9 a.m. Do you love Nevada history, and, more importantly, do you love sharing that knowledge with others? If so, the Nevada State Museum has a perfect opportunity. The museum is recruiting for volunteers, who will get a multi-day in-depth jaunt through the museum, through Battle Born Hall at the Nevada State Capitol and through the museum’s collection centers. The fall training dates are Sept. 10, 16 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Nevada State Museum was voted the best museum in rural Nevada by the readers of Nevada Magazine in 2018. The training is free and comes with a tour guide handbook and name tag. Early registration is required as space is limited. — Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery Autumn Membership Show, now through Oct. 18. Enjoy artwork from our member artists. Membership has risen to nearly 150 local artists during our 40th year operating as a gallery. The Autumn Membership show runs from Sept. 8 to Oct. 18 at Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery at 449 W. King Street in Carson City. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Also, save the date, Nov. 3 we will be hosting our 40th Anniversary Celebration on location at the Gallery, 2-4 p.m. Please join us in marking this historical occasion.

— State Library lunch series features acclaimed Nevada poet, author and professor. Noon. The Nevada State Library will feature author, professor and poet Lindsay Wilson at its Sept. 10 “Nevada in Small Bites” book talk series. Wilson, an English professor at Truckee Meadows Community College, is the former Poet Laureate of Reno, Nevada. His first full length collection is No Elegies, and his new chapbook is Because the Dirt Here is Poor. His poetry has appeared in The Missouri Review Poem of the Week, Verse Daily, The Carolina Quarterly, The Bellevue Literary Review, among others. The “Nevada in Small Bites” book talk series is held on the second Tuesday of each month. Bring your lunch and join us at noon for conversations, guest authors, and historians to learn a bit more about of Nevada's history, literature, and community. The event is open to everyone. The Nevada State Library and Archives is located at 100 North Stewart Street in Carson City.

— Muscle Powered Tuesday Evening Hike at Centennial Park. 5:30 p.m. Join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride around Carson City. Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building. A schedule of all upcoming activities and events can be found at www.musclepowered.org/calendar. Tuesday evenings hike is at Centennial Park, Wild Horse Trail. Meet at the back of Centennial Park, north end, across from the ball fields on Heritage Way. Tuesday evening hikes start at 5:30 PM and are usually 1 1/2 hours or more duration and are 4-6 miles in length. Water and closed-toed shoes are required. Hat and poles recommended.

— Muscle Powered Ladies MTB Ride. 5:30 p.m. Join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City. Meetup at Foothill Drive just off of N Winnie Lane. Rides start at 5:30 PM and are open to all skill levels. All riders must carry water and have a mountain bike in safe working condition, helmet, closed toed shoes, spare tube, pump and tools to change a flat tire. — Tuesday night archery shoots return to Carson City's Centennial Park Archery Range. 5:30 p.m. Every Tuesday evening, 5:30 to dusk, the Clear Creek Bowmen host its Tuesday Night Archery Shoots at the Centennial Park Archery Range in Carson City. Both traditional and 3D targets are available. The target range is open shooting for use at no cost. There is a $5 fee (kids 17 and under are free) to shoot the 3D animal targets. We have archery equipment, volunteers and instructors to get you started. Come on out and join us. It’s a great way to experience the world of archery. Open to all ages. — Nevada Alzheimer’s Association hosts early signup Tuesday for 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. 5:30 p.m. Skip the line on the official walk day and instead sign up Tuesday at an early bird registration gathering for the 2019 Northern Nevada Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which takes place Saturday, Sept. 21. The early registration and gathering will take Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 639 Isbell Road, Suite 240 in Reno. The Northern Nevada Walk to End Alzheimer's will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at the Sparks Marina. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Go here for walk details. Tuesday's gathering is a free event intended for Walk to End Alzheimer’s team captains and team members to pick up their event day wristbands in advance. Individuals may also collect their official t-shirts if they have met their individual fundraising goal of $100. This event allows participants to skip the line on Walk Day.

— Sierra Nevada Forums to host talk Tuesday on Nevada Native American tribes. 6 p.m. A glimpse at Nevada Native American culture past, present and future will be the subject of the September Sierra Nevada Forums in Carson City. The public is invited to the Tuesday, Sept. 10 forum at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 West King Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The program begins at 6 p.m. The event is free, donations are appreciated.

— Family Movie and Craft Night at Carson City Library: The Lego Batman Movie featured. 6 to 7:45 p.m. Come join us in watching The Lego Batman Movie (PG) and build with LEGOs as a family. The Lego Batman Movie centers on big changes brewing in Gotham, but if Batman (Will Arnett) wants to save the city from the Joker’s (Zach Galifianakis) hostile takeover, he may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. Maybe his superhero sidekick Robin (Michael Cera) and loyal butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) can show him a thing or two. Registration is required. — Parents of Addicted Loved Ones hold meetings Tuesday evenings. 6 p.m. PAL provides education and support, at no cost, for family members (over 18) trying to save a son, daughter or family member from addiction to alcohol or drugs. By attending our meetings on Tuesdays, 6 p.m. at Partnership Carson City office at 1925 N Carson City St., you will give and receive support from others who are facing the same challenges you are.

— Empty Bowls, Open Studio. 6 to 8:30 p.m. Create an empty bowl to donate to charity, instruction will be offered to create and paint a bowl or create something on our own during open studio session.
