Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. The monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk takes place Saturday followed by a performance from Tom Petty and Rod Stewart tribute bands during The Do Drop In’s “A Face in the Crowd” homeless fundraiser at Fuji Park. St. Teresa School will host its 17th annual Crab Feed Fundraiser. Combined with comedy at the Carson Nugget and Brewery Arts Center, the Carson City region is in store for a busy weekend. Come and join us this Saturday, March 7, beginning at 4:30 p.m. for a movie in the mall at Carson Mall. We will be watching the new "Frozen 2!" Doors open at 4:30 p.m. movie starts at 5 p.m. Free for everyone.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. The Polar Express Train Rides are sold out for the rest of the year, but Santa Train express rides are steaming up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum over the weekend. Read on for details.

Carson Mall will celebrate the holidays with a Family Movie Night! The event is Dec. 14, 5 p.m. Join Carson Mall and relive the magic of The Polar Express. Bring your blankets, pillows and your PJs. Move starts at 5 p.m. Kids must be with an adult. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Surprise guest appearance and more.

Going into the second week of October, there's plenty of events around the capital city for this Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019 including a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered. There's also art showings, the grand opening of Carson City's Postal Annex, family movie night at the Carson City Library featuring "Muppets from Space," as well as Big Band jazz music with a fall theme at Living the Good Life and more. Enjoy the day.

A premiere card from the Carson City Library is all families need to check out a lunar telescope for two weeks of space-gazing. The premiere card is free and works like a regular library card, with extra access to special items such as the NASA Explorer Backpacks now being offered by the Carson City Library.

It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

The Carson City Library invites everyone in Carson City to participate in a community read of "Station Eleven" by Emily St. John Mandel for the library’s annual Capital City Reads program during the month of April.

Capital City Reads is Carson City Library’s annual city-wide book club sponsored by the Friends of the Carson City Library that brings people together through reading and discussion.

Thank goodness for Thursday. The weekend is just hours away, but there is no reason to wait for the fun to start. Take a stroll with Muscle Powered: today’s hike will wind through the far east side of Carson, from Silver Saddle Ranch to Mexican Dam. Artsy Fartsy Art Galley hosts an artist meet and greet for Catherine King; enjoy a glass of wine while discovering her newest work. Head down the rabbit hole, and you may wind up on McFadden Plaza. The Carson City Classic Cinema Club brings the recent live-action version of Alice in Wonderland to the big screen on the downtown stage.

Looks like another great day to stay indoors. The Carson City Library has several activities planned today, and one of them might be what you’re looking for. Story time this morning is for the little ones. Just about everyone is welcome to participate in their weekly Lego Club build. Families will enjoy movie night; just make sure to register online if you’re planning on seeing Peter Rabbit with them this evening. The Jazz and Beyond Music Festival is in full swing, so you’ll find plenty of music around.

It almost seems like the weekend is starting early, with all the great times offered today. The Carson City Fair is in full swing and will offer family-friendly fun through Sunday. Movie-lovers of all ages will enjoy tonight’s Movie on the Plaza: Princess Bride. It’s free to attend, but you’ll want to bring your own seating. Summer heat is in full effect and with thunderstorms threatening the Sierra, wildfires are even more likely. Luckily, you’ll find some ways to entertain the kids without having to head outdoors. Head down for family story time at the Carson City Library with the young ones; older kids will want to check out the weekly Lego Club this afternoon. The Rally Route 50 West automotive scavenger hunt and race comes to an end this evening in McFadden Plaza with an announcement of the winners. Summertime Cruise Nights continue with this week’s meet-up at Johnny Rockets.

There is quite a bit to look forward to today, not to mention this coming weekend. The Rockabilly Riot roars into town and sets up shop at Mills Park for a whole weekend of vintage rat-rods and rock-n-roll. You’ll find the Extreme Motor Officers Challenge in the park, too, so expect it to be noisy. The Pony Express rides again, as it does every year, and retraces its historic route. Keep an eye out this evening for the rider heading east. Enjoy some blues, funk and rock courtesy of the Mylo McCormick Project at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park as part of their annual summer music series.

She’s a grand ole flag, and there will be two ceremonies to recognize the stars and stripes in Carson City today. At 10 a.m. you can join the Nevada National Guard at the Veterans Memorial on the Capitol Grounds for presentation of the colors, speakers, and even cake for the US Army’s anniversary. You’ll find the Elks Club honoring our flag at 3 p.m. The public are invited to both events. The Army isn’t the only birthday you’ll find today; Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery celebrates its seventh year with an artist reception and new work from Denise Jenkins.

It’s going to be a breezy weekend, so you may want to rethink spending the day at the lake. Luckily, plenty of options are available just about anywhere you are. Carson City has a car show and Brewfest hitting the downtown corridor, and to the south, Minden and Gardnerville are having their party of the year: Carson Valley Days. It’s World Doll Day at the Nevada State Museum with special displays, activities, and a special performance by the local Young Chautauquans.

When Rhonda Abend heard there was interest in organizing an outdoor movie series in Carson City over the summer, her reply was automatic: “As you wish.”

This first weekend of June packs quite a punch: activities and events abound. Head downtown for the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the season, then wander a few blocks north for Due Sorella’s Spring Vintage Market. You may as well just keep the car parked. With the monthly Wine Walk, Pour for Paws in McFadden Plaza, and Crystal’s Crusade Street Party Fundraiser on W. Telegraph, downtown is the place to be. There are so many options this weekend, so take a gander and enjoy your weekend.

Not a cloud in the sky, and yet we have been hit by a perfect storm: Cinco de Mayo, Kentucky Derby Day, and the monthly wine walk have all collided. Let me tell you, downtown is going to be hopping, not to mention the Early Season Farmers Market making its seasonal debut in the parking lot at W. Musser and N. Nevada – just behind Due Sorella. Take the kids down to Bailys Pond at Fuji Park for the annual Tom Brooks Memorial Kids’ Fishing Day. A trip to the train museum comes with the opportunity to ride on the Historic McKeen Motor Car.
