Free Skin Cancer Screening Compliments Of Carson Tahoe Health & Wellness Institute

Did you know that skin cancer is the most prevalent of all cancers? It’s estimated that over one million Americans develop some type of skin cancer every year. Overexposure to sunlight (including tanning) is the main cause, especially when it results in sunburn and blistering. Avoiding the sun is your best defense, but when you can’t, have your skin checked by a professional on a regular basis.

When?
October 9 from 9 AM - 5 PM (Lunch Break from Noon - 1 PM)

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), and plaque build-up in carotid arteries are all treatable when caught early. Additionally, PVD (Peripheral Vascular Disease, caused by blocked blood flow in the leg arteries) when diagnosed early allows physicians to intervene before serious complications develop.

Activities around town include a yoga class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a midweek meditation series offered at Carson City Yoga, a firearms course, plus Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women, a Carson Valley Trails Association celebration more.

More springlike weather around the capital city is ahead Ash Wednesday with a daytime high near 65. Events include a Real ID town hall meeting at the Carson City DMV, the economic impact of pro soccer in Northern Nevada will be featured at NNDA's Business Edge at Casino Fandango, Carson City Schools offers the first of three pre-kindergarten programs for parents and will also host a separate strategic plan meeting. Meanwhile, Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness hosts a yoga class, plus Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and more.

Looking ahead into the midweek we can expect cooler temperatures to go along with sunny skies and daytime highs near 50. Nevada Cancer Coalition will hold 15 minute informational sessions on August 29, noon - 2 PM.

At Carson Tahoe Health, we recognize that resources can be hard to come by. That’s why, in conjunction with the CDC and the National Diabetes Prevention Program, starting July 24, 2019, a session of “Small Steps. Big Rewards.” will begin. A year-long program that has proven to be effective in eliminating the risk of diabetes.
