I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: Jan. 28 - 29
Kunghei fatchoy, Carson City. Let’s welcome the year of the rooster and say goodbye to January. It’s never too late to get a jump on your New Year’s resolutions and the Health, Wellness, and Safety Fair at the Carson Mall will help you do just that. The Brewery Arts Center is proud to present a new concert series featuring the local bands we love: Locals Nightclub kicks off tonight with the Whitehats and a CD release party for Hick’ry Switch. Music is good for the soul and the Capital City Community Band is just what the doctor ordered. Grab the kids and head to the First Presbyterian Church for a free concert. Get in a bike ride before the wet weather returns: Muscle Powered leaves from Fremont Elementary School at 9 a.m. and also sponsors weekly hikes throughout town. If you’re interested in joining them, their potluck membership meeting this afternoon at the Brewery Arts Center is the perfect time to fill out a membership card.
SUNDAY:
- Encore Performing Arts Dance Competition in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Community Center (8am-11am)
- Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride - Meet in the south parking lot of Fremont Elementary School, next to the Linear Ditch Trail (meet at 9am; consists of two loops 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles; ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but usually about 12-16 mph; All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and closed toed shoes. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the meeting site; email Shane: shane@shanetrotter.net with any questions)
