The Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation is holding its first open house of 2023 at the historic Wungnema House this Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Pickleball court to be added at Mills Park, temporary closures ahead for tennis court improvements

The group will be donating the funds to the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation for court surface repairs and the conversion of one tennis court to a pickleball court.

Parks Foundation president, David Johnson, announced on Friday that the Foundation’s Board of Directors, continuing the Foundation’s practice of recognizing outstanding contributions in furtherance of Carson City’s parks, recreational facilities and open space, designated Sandy Osheroff as the “2020 Volunteer of the Years” at their December meeting.

The Wungnema House is the charming stone cottage located on the east side of Mills Park across from Carson High. It was built by a family of skilled Hopi stonemasons shortly after WWII and served as the family’s home until the early 1970s. There is no admission fee, and all are welcome.
Volunteers sought to help restore Carson City and Mills Park Railroad

The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Families will have a hard time choosing between the Cops and Kids Open House and Safety Fair at the Sheriff’s Office and the ‘Kids to Parks’ Day activities at Silver Saddle Ranch.
