Membership Meeting

Even with the Phase 2 opening set to begin Friday, the Carson City Wine Walk will hold off on their monthly event until at least July.

The Carson City Symphony Association's annual membership meeting and end-of-the-fiscal-year party will be on Sunday, July 7, 6:30 p.m., at the Lake Glen Clubhouse, 164 Lake Glen Drive, Carson City. The Symphony is celebrating the conclusion of its 35th season.

Heading into Thursday, June 27, 2019, there's plenty to do and see around the Carson City area as we march toward an action-packed weekend. There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Farmers Market in Dayton, a discussion on climate change at Western Nevada College, a history presentation on Chinese woodcutters at the Nevada State Museum, a presentation by the NNDA Executive Director at a GOP monthly meeting, Cruise Night at Wing Stop, an information meeting on the Ross Gold Park master plan hosted by Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space. As we head into the middle of the month many of us haven't turned on the air conditioner because the weather outside has been comfortably, pleasantly air conditioned these past few weeks. The Foundation for Cason City Parks and Recreation announces its Annual Membership Meeting. The meeting will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 15 at the Wungnema House in Mills Park.

The Carson City Republican Committee is holding the April General membership meeting on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Carson Nugget at 6:30 p.m. This is our annual elections meeting and we encourage any and all local residents to get involved with our politics to participate and make your voice heard.

The Mile High Jazz Band Association will have its Annual Membership Meeting on Friday, July 13, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of David & Elinor Bugli, 191 Heidi Circle, Carson City. The main purpose of the meeting is to elect Board members to fill terms that are opening.

The League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada will hold its annual membership meeting on Saturday April 28, 2018, beginning at 10 am at the Western Nevada College in Carson City, Aspen Building, Carson Nugget Hall. Prospective members and guests are welcome.

Michael Willden, Governor Sandoval’s Chief of Staff, will be the keynote speaker focusing on the upcoming 2019 legislative session and Nevada’s future regarding health care including mental health and the opiod crisis.

Sunny days in the fifties are okay for spring, but we still need some winter to come our way. Take advantage of the warmer weather during a Winter Hike along Carson Valley’s Pinion Trail with Muscle Powered. Song and dance kids will want to audition for the upcoming performance of ‘Willy Wonka, Jr.’ If you’re a fan of song, but possibly too old to join the Youth Theater Carson City cast, check out the monthly jam in Silver City at their historic School House. All instruments are welcome, in addition to vocalists and those who just want to listen.

Our guest speakers will be Niki Gladys, Executive Director of Institutional Development for Western Nevada College, Mark Ghan, the Interim President for Western Nevada College and Denise Frohlich, the Director of Library and Media Center for Western Nevada College who will be having a panel discussion regarding the college's plan for getting students ready for our changing workforce.

Our featured guest speaker will be Lee Plemel, the Director of the Carson City Development Department, who will be sharing with us an update on current Carson City projects as well as the vision Carson City government has for upcoming years. We will be featuring Tyler Brennan, General Manager of RISE Dispensary of Carson City as our guest speaker. Tyler will be speaking to our party about his take on some of the recent controversies surrounding marijuana dispensaries locally as well as education on cannabis and what the implementation of NV Question 2 means going forward in both Carson City and Nevada as a whole.

Music is good for the soul and the Capital City Community Band is just what the doctor ordered. Grab the kids and head to the First Presbyterian Church for a free concert. Get in a bike ride before the wet weather returns: Muscle Powered leaves from Fremont Elementary School at 9 a.m. and also sponsors weekly hikes throughout town. If you’re interested in joining them, their potluck membership meeting this afternoon at the Brewery Arts Center is the perfect time to fill out a membership card.
