After the Friday wind and rain, we are supposed to see some clear skies: but don’t quote me on that. You know how the weather here can be. The Third and Curry Farmers Market vendors are tough, though, so your weekly dose of fresh produce will be waiting for you either way. Don’t miss the autumn plant sale at the Greenhouse Project booth. The Carson City Historical Society hosts their second yard sale of the season at the historic Forman-Roberts House on North Carson Street, so have fun treasure hunting.

Have some family friendly fun with rides on the Edwards Motor Car at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Enjoy the end of the Summer Reading Program celebration at the Carson City Library in their Secret Garden. The Pavilion at Mills Park is where you’ll find the Hand Up Resource Fair with informative booths and fun. It’s just a few steps to the Mills Park Railroad, where a family of 3 can enjoy a quick turn around the park for just $5. Youth Theater Carson City is in their final weekend of performances, so don’t miss Peter Pan at the Community Center.

Jazz and Beyond is off and running and has some great offerings for you. The Carson Mall is where you can enjoy the Back Forty. The Brewery Arts Center is a hot bed of activity. First they host We Rock Kidz in the new outdoor plaza. Later, in the Black Box Theater, you are invited to listen to classic guitarist, Michael Chapdelaine. You could also head to the Performance Hall for a viewing of the harmonica documentary ‘Pocket Full of Soul.’ These are all free to the public, so enjoy the festival.

Downtown will be crawling with Roller Derby Girls. Literally. The Second Annual Hot August Hits Bar Crawl kicks off with and exhibition bout on North Curry St. at 5 p.m. Grab your souvenir crawl cup for $5 and help support the Carson Victory Rollers. You’ll want to stop in the Carson Cigar Co. for some live music by Notch 8 singer, James Wilsey. Sing your heart out at Westside Pour House; it’s karaoke night. A DJ will help you dance the night away at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar.

The Carson City Library is wrapping up its adult summer reading program with a special presentation by adventurer, photographer, cyclist Rick Gunn. Like, did you totally know that Clueless is playing at the Galaxy Theater tonight? Miss out on that? As if.

Culinary students at Carson Middle School will soon have some new tools in their kitchen. The program recently received a $5,000.00 grant from the Rotary Club of Carson City. Club members surprised Culinary Arts teacher Tammy Borremans, who applied for the grant, in her classroom earlier this week.

A storm system moved into the region overnight, bringing a few inches of snow to the Sierra and rain across the lower valleys.

Clear Creek Bowmen annual Turkey Shoot is this Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Carson City Archery Range, just East of Eagle Valley Golf Course. The event is open to the public.
