Celebrate with us as we watch performances by: Western Nevada Performing Arts Center; Youth Theatre Carson City; Suspect Terrane; Wildhorse Children's Theatre; Studio E Arial Arts and Carson High School Choir and Drama. This is a FREE event.
The Bob Boldrick Theatre is located inside of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street at the corner of N. Roop.

Mills Park in Carson City features its first ever ‘Movie in the Park’ tonight with a showing of ‘Sing’. Gardnerville’s last of the season movie is Disney’s ‘Moana.’ Dancing shoes are recommended, but not required, for this week’s outdoor concert in McFadden Plaza: Musicole begins at 7:30 p.m. Get there early to see the amazing talent in 'We Rock Kidz' on the stage in Comma Coffee's Courtyard. Leave a little extra time this morning to get to work safely, and get some free coffee if you're sporting a helmet. This evening, McFadden Plaza will be filled with riders, games, raffles, and music courtesy of the Whitehats. Stick close to downtown and you'll be rewarded with World Dance at Comma Coffee, or some laughs with Comedian Milt Abel at Carson Comedy inside the Carson Nugget.

Plenty of free things to see, hear, and experience await. The annual Spring Earth Spirit Faire lets you celebrate Mother Earth with workshops, holistic practitioners, great vendors, and a raffle. It benefits the Heart to Heart School and Advocates to End Domestic Violence so it’s always worth checking out. You’ll have to keep reading for all of your choices, the spring thaw brings out the best this valley has to offer.

More of the wet stuff is on its way, but don’t let that stand in the way of a good time. Laugh it up with magician and comedian Brad Bonar Jr. at Carson Comedy in the Nugget. Break a leg to the Proscenium Players. Their spring production, ‘Bus Stop,’ opens tonight in the Brewery Arts Center Black Box Theater. The whole family is welcome at the DHS Boosters Bingo Night at Dayton High tonight; help them raise funds for this year’s Safe and Sober Grad Night.

(I’m not going to lie: triskaidekaphobia is one of my favorite words and I very rarely get the chance to use it in a sentence.) Mother Nature has thrown us for a loop this week, and we deserve the chance to enjoy the break in the storm. Take the family down to the Library for their game corner, or cheer on the talented cast of ‘The Lion King, Jr.’ at the Community Center.

The annual Salvation Army Turkey Drive runs 6 a.m. until six this evening: drop off your donation at the Max Casino in Carson or at the C.O.D. Casino in Minden. Get to know Supervisor Karen Abowd during her monthly walkabout at the Community Center; head inside to get a peek at the new art exhibit in the Sierra Room while you’re there. The Craft Fair at Carson High School is a local favorite: over 125 vendors, music, and pictures with Santa. It starts tonight and continues tomorrow.
Nevada State Fair returns and brings the Rendevous with it

Free to attend, the Fair features live music, carnival rides, a car show, County exhibits, civil war reenactments, and more. Free parking can be found at Carson High School.

Unfortunately, it could make for soggy feet if you’ve got any outdoor activities planned. Lucky for us, plenty of fun can be found indoors. Hit the Carson Mall for Cowgirls and Lipstick or learn about rare coins at the Nevada State Museum. Meet author Joe Crowley at Browsers' Corner Book Store or read to therapy dogs at the Carson City Library. Head to the Capitol Grounds for an afternoon of music beginning with the Champagne Singers at 4:30 p.m. followed by the Reno Video Game Symphony. Bring a chair or blanket, something to snack on, and your friends and family. The Carson City Library is wrapping up its adult summer reading program with a special presentation by adventurer, photographer, cyclist Rick Gunn. Like, did you totally know that Clueless is playing at the Galaxy Theater tonight? Miss out on that? As if.

The Third and Curry Farmers Market vendors are tough, though, so your weekly dose of fresh produce will be waiting for you either way. Don’t miss the autumn plant sale at the Greenhouse Project booth. The Carson City Historical Society hosts their second yard sale of the season at the historic Forman-Roberts House on North Carson Street, so have fun treasure hunting.

The annual Jazz and Beyond Festival begins today with an art show and concert on the lawn of the Bliss Mansion. Over the next two weeks you’ll have a plethora of melody to choose from at venues throughout town. Enjoy an outdoor concert at Third and Carson with Drinking with Clowns. Sassafras is thrilled to grab Groove Session for a show; they’re usually off touring. Mo’z Motley Blues will give you a reason to dance at Living the Good Life. You’ll want to take a look at the whole list: I’ve only barely scratched the surface.

We desperately need the water, the ski resorts need visitors, and those mountains are so much prettier with a blanket of white.
