The last day of March and we are all itching for some springtime weather. Luckily, we have some nice days ahead. Dust off that motorcycle and head down to Bike Night at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar. Enjoy an afternoon hike with Muscle Powered. The Kiwanis Club just pulled off their big annual Easter Egg Hunt and is always looking for civic minded community members to join: they meet every Thursday at Casino Fandango. If beer brewing is an interest, then check out the monthly meeting of the 395 Brewers at Just Brew It.

Every day counts in a child’s education and School Attendance Matters. Chronic absenteeism has been defined as missing at least 10 percent of days in a school year for any reason, including excused and unexcused absences.

The Carson City School District has hovered around 25% chronic absenteeism. While most schools in the district don’t average as high as the overall rate, hearing about the alarming statistic has motivated a few community partners including Mayor Lori Bagwell.
