Fresh off their third tour to Iceland with crazy adventures like playing at an Icelandic film star’s wedding to a show on a whale watching boat, San Francisco based band, Dirty Cello will present their exciting blend of blues, rock and Americana that has been described by Oakland Magazine as, “...funky, carnival, romantic, sexy, tangled, electric, fiercely rhythmic, and textured, and only occasionally classical” at Nashville Social Club in Carson City March 18.

On Saturday, September 10, 2022, Nevada Humanities will host the Nevada Humanities Literary Crawl — the premier literary event in northern Nevada — at venues throughout the California Avenue corridor in Reno beginning at 11 am with the keynote address at the Nevada Museum of Art and concluding at 8 pm.

The 2022 Nevada Humanities Literary Crawl will take place Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Reno, featuring an exploratory day of literary events. Over 40 fiction, non-fiction, and poetry readings, as well as panel discussions, book signings, art installations and projects, and creative workshops are part of the 2022 Nevada Humanities Literary Crawl.

We miss the stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make theater. Wild Horse Children’s Theater is looking for young actors, singers, and dancers, ages 10 and up for our new Virtual Broadway Workshop.

Jacqueline Milagros Acosta-Bruno was born Nov. 17, 2002 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev., to Claudia Bruno and Hector Acosta. She has four younger brothers and sisters, all attending Carson City Schools, as well as a sibling just 18-months-old.

This year has been extremely challenging and with the impact of Covid; many of our families are struggling to ensure they can celebrate Christmas. However, generous community members have come together determined to help these families have a Christmas celebration not even Covid can stop.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Several fundraisers, including the annual “Share Your Christmas” Food Drive will be available throughout the Carson City, Minden and Reno areas on Friday. You can visit the North Pole safely as part of a drive-thru Santa's Village experience at V&T Railway in Carson City, beginning Friday into the weekend. A living nativity scene will be featured at First United Methodist Church on Saturday and Sunday. Combined with train rides in Virginia City, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights holiday celebration goes virtual on Friday. Santa Claus will arrive virtually at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and in-person at Battle Born Harley Davidson on Saturday for pictures with families and kids of all ages. I have a Huckleberry friend who has kept me humored during the pandemic. Huck is a Steller's jay, his species is named for an 18th century German naturalist, but his name comes from a boy who had some adventures out on the Mississippi River in the 19th century, as immortalized by Mark Twain.

The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will open its 37th season with a virtual community music and dance project celebrating Carson City history, the “Hank Monk Schottische” virtual performance project. Instrumental musicians and dancers of all ages are invited to participate.
