Capitol Plaza Trees project seeks public comment, plus ‘My Capitol Grounds Story’ sought from visitors
The Capitol Plaza Trees project team from Wood Rodgers, Inc. is seeking public comment, suggestions or concerns regarding the tree inventory project or the Capitol grounds in general.
The Carson City capitol grounds are a popular place for the public to enjoy and comments from visitors are being sought to help build a repository of stories to add to the history of the grounds.
Public comment may be given on the project’s Community Feedback Survey, found on the project website, www.capitolplazatreesnv.com, where updates about the tree survey are also available.
The project, announced in March, includes a comprehensive tree inventory project on the capitol grounds. This important initiative aims to identify the location, type, species, and health of each tree within the capitol’s historic and beloved grounds.
A tree expert and surveyor from Wood Rodgers Inc. in Reno conducted a detailed inventory of each tree, marking a significant step toward enhancing the sustainability, health, and vitality of the capitol grounds. This effort will provide valuable insights into the current condition of the grounds’ greenery, enabling the formulation of a strategic plan for tree care, preservation, and potentially necessary renewals.
The findings from the inventory will inform decisions regarding tree care, landscaping enhancements, and the integration of new, sustainable practices into the care of the grounds. Additionally, the project aligns with the division’s broader goals of environmental stewardship and conservation, underpinning its commitment to maintaining a green and healthy environment at the heart of the capital grounds.
Residents and visitors to the capitol are invited sign up to receive email updates on the website, reflecting the project team’s commitment to transparency and community involvement in the recorded history, care and management of the state’s shared green spaces.
