Tail & Tires — a free trail safety workshop happening Wednesday at Douglas County Fairgrounds
Tail & Tires — a free trail safety workshop will be held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, June 5.
As part of the Slow and Say Hello safety campaign, Carson Valley Trails Association (CVTA) and the Douglas County Mounted Posse (DCMP) are offering a workshop to familiarize mountain bikers with horses.
All ages are welcome to come learn how and why horses may react to mountain bikes, including safe techniques for approaching and passing horseback riders and hikers on trails. Participants will hear CVTA and DCMP members describe and demonstrate various horse behaviors — and if you bring your mountain bike, we may ask you to help us out. There will also be opportunities to touch and possibly ride a horse.
This event is free and open to all mountain bikers, hikers, and others interested in trail safety. Please wear good shoes (no sandals) and bring your helmet if you will ride a bike or a horse at the event.
