Nevadans Now Being Notified Of Reactivation Of Extended Federal Jobless Benefits
Submitted by admin on Fri, 07/30/2010 - 2:20pmCARSON CITY — Nevadans who are eligible to have their jobless benefits reactivated can expect letters by next week with instructions, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation (DETR) said today.
The agency began mailing letters Thursday to individuals whose Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) claims are being reinstated following action by Congress last week to extend federal unemployment benefits through November.
Caleb Cage named Nevada Office of Veterans Services executive director

Cage presently serves as a Senior Policy Advisor/Rural and Veterans Issues for Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki.
Cage attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army, serving in Iraq as recently as 2006. Captain Cage was awarded the Army’s Bronze Star Medal for his service in Iraq. He is a 2002 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.

Authorities assigned to the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team had gleaned information on Thursday that several known heroin users were hiding at a home in the 2800 block of Airport Road in Carson City.

Nevada Legislature Strikes Deal With Firm To Complete Portion Of Study

The agreement reached with Moody's Analytics requires the firm to finish the Nevada Vision Stakeholder Group portion of the contract by Sept. 15. It will require more work by the firm and two more meetings of the Vision Stakeholder Group, but the payment will remain at the initial bid of just under $100,000.

Dozens of burglary victims look for stolen goods at Carson City viewing

Sifting through hundreds of items such as iPods, laptops, CDs, DVDs, guns, tools and guitars, many of the victims said they were hopeful they could place positive identifications on what had been taken from them.

Additional charges filed in Carson City burglary crime ring

Bryan Allen Gaudette, 24, faces five additional felony counts of burglary and is being held in the Carson City Jail on $25,000 bond.
He is currently in custody for other items already recovered in the same case, authorities report.

Jesus Atan-Lopez, 31, was arrested at around 10 p.m. in the 3300 block of Carson Street. His bail was set at $5,000.

Carson City man faces felony charge after allegedly choking and throwing bleach on girlfriend
Submitted by editor on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 9:37pmA Carson City man faces a felony domestic battery charge after he allegedly threw his live-in girlfriend down a half a flight of stairs, choked her with both hands and then threw bleach on her.
Jason Jeffery Lambert, 30, was booked into the Carson City jail on $15,000 bond.
According to the July 25 arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Jeanell Drive after receiving a call from a neighbor about a domestic fight.
Gardnerville resident identified as the woman who died in the Carson City Jail
Submitted by editor on Tue, 07/20/2010 - 3:22pmA Gardnerville woman has been identified by authorities as being the woman who died in the Carson City Jail on Sunday.
Kimberly Wood, 23, died Sunday morning for unknown reasons. An autopsy was performed today, Tuesday, with results not expected for several weeks, Carson City Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Steve Albertsen said.
Wood was found dead on Sunday morning in the Carson City jail after she had been arrested on Saturday night, on a warrant from Lyon County.
Authorities had made contact with Wood and a man she was with during a domestic dispute that happened while driving.
