I Love Carson City’s Easter Weekend Event Summary: March 26-27
Spring has sprung. Days getting longer, flowers blooming, and now Easter weekend is upon us. Egg hunts, brunches, and even a parade are all part of the fun. Take a look at this weekend’s event summary for family fun, live music, and much more.
SATURDAY:
- Free Basketball Handling Clinic for Kids at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center (MAC): 1870 Russell Way (7:30am-8:30am; sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club)
- Coffee and Donuts with EAA Sierra Chapter 403 at 2500 E. College Pkwy (8:30am-12pm, all welcome)
- Flying Pig Flea Market at Fuji Park (8am-3pm; $1 admission)
- Nevada Artists Association Art Exhibit featuring Emily Cervi and Photography by Chas. H. McDonnell, III at the Carson Visitor Center (8am-5pm)
- Celebrate Easter at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (10am-4pm; Storytime at 11am; special crafts and egg hunt; $6 adults, children free)
- Fifth Annual Egg-stravaganza at Seeliger Elementary: 2800 S Saliman Rd (10am; hunt starts at 10:15am and is open to kids through 5th grade; Parking on site is limited, use street parking)
- Egg Hunt and Easter Bunny Photos at the Carson Mall (Photos 10am-5pm; Egg Hunt for ages 1-4 and 5-8 takes place at 2pm; special egg hunt for women 19+)
Ready for an egg hunt? Seeliger Elementary School, Centennial Park, and Washoe Lake State Park are just a few of the places you can choose from. Western Nevada College wants you to join their Fiesta.
- Seventh Annual Easter Fiesta at Western Nevada College (10am-3pm; Free; Egg Hunts: 10am, 12pm, 2pm; Coloring Contest, Piñatas, Face Painting, Bunny Limbo, Musical Chairs and much more. Activities tickets: $1 per ticket, $5 for 6; Sponsored by the Association of Latin American Students)
- Easter Egg Hunt at the Silver Springs Day Use Area of the Lahontan State Recreation Area - enter from the Silver Springs entrance off Fir St. (begins 10am SHARP; free, kids 12 and younger; 3,000+ plastic eggs with candy; four groups: 3 and under, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12)
- Cotton Tails: An Easter Egg Hunt and Pancake Brunch at Mormon Station in Genoa (10am-2pm; Brunch SOLD OUT, egg hunt $6; two separate egg hunts beginning at 12pm: ages 5 and under, and 6+; Photo booth, face painting and the Easter Bunny)
- Kiwanis Annual Egg Hunt at Centennial Park – north of Eagle Valley Golf Course (11am; Free to all children, thousands of eggs and hundreds of prizes, meet the Easter Bunny)
- Easter Celebration with crafts and the Easter Bunny at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada (11am-1pm; included with admission; bring your camera or camera phone)
Looking for the Easter Bunny? Head to Carson Mall, Mormon Station in Genoa, and the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada for a rabbit sighting.
- Easter Egg Decorating Contest at the Silver City School House: 385 High Street, Silver City (11am; hardboiled and plastic eggs needed)
- Easter Egg Hunt at Carson Plaza Retirement: 2120 E. Long St. (12pm)
- Swim Class for Kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the Carson City Aquatic Facility (11am; $4)
- WARF Cat and Kitten Adoption Event at Petco on Topsy Lane (11am-4pm; all cats are fixed, vaccinated and micro-chipped)
- Dog Town Rescue Adoption Event at Petco (11am-3pm; all dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped; available for a $150 adoption donation)
- Live Music with CW Bayer at the Roasting House, Virginia City (11am-3pm)
- Easter Bonnet and Pet Parade in Virginia City (12pm; Line up and registration begins at 11:30 at the Jerky Company on C Street for those who would like to participate)
- South Valley Volunteer Fire Department Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Washoe Lake State Park (12pm, group hunt begins at 12:30pm; free admission to park; bbq available for purchase)
- Painting Class at Van Gogh and Vino (1pm-4pm; $30 per painter)
Find your fanciest bonnet for the Easter Pet Parade in Virginia City. If you don’t have a four legged friend to walk with you, Dog Town Canine Rescue is holding an adoption event at Petco.
- Suds for Seniors Fundraiser at the Firkin and Fox OR the Feisty Goat Pub: 1881 E. Long St. (4pm-10am; $15 to sample five beers; benefits the Meals on Wheels program; Tickets also available at the Carson Visitor Center and are good through June 30)
- Live Music with Dale Poune at 1862 David Walley's Restaurant and Saloon in Genoa (5pm-9pm)

- Bluegrass Series presents: Unionville Bluegrass and More at the Brewery Arts Center Black Box Theater (7pm; $20 general admission at door; discounts for pre-sale tickets, members, and seniors)
- Talent Takes Flight Singing Competition at Flight: 2244 Meridian, off Airport in Minden (7pm-10pm; solo acts or duos welcome; each performer will sing two original or cover songs; PA system and Mic provided; $100 prize to winner)

The Brewery Arts Center is a hotspot of music, theater, and art. Tonight they offer some toe-tapping fun with Unionville Bluegrass in the black box theater. The High Sierra Swing Dance Club can be found in the Grand Ballroom for their monthly dance party.

Bonnets, baskets, bunnies, and brunch are the order of the day. Make some Easter crafts at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Travel back in time at the Mormon Station State Park; they will demonstrate how to make a ham dinner in a Dutch oven, and let you taste it, too. Egg hunts aren’t just for the kids. - Easter Services and Activities at St. Paul’s Lutheran: 1201 N. Saliman (early service 8am, followed by an Easter Breakfast hosted by our Youth Group and a Easter Egg Hunt for our children ages 3-10 at 9:30am. The Easter Bunny has also promised to stop by; second service at 10:30am)
- Egg Hunt and Meet the Easter Bunny at David Walley’s Hot Springs Resort, Genoa (9:30am AND 11:30am; on lawn by the restaurant; two groups: 6 and under, 7-12)
- Egg Hunt at the Johnson Lane Volunteer Fire Department: 1450 Stephanie Way, Minden(9am)
- Celebrate Easter at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (10am-4pm; Storytime at 11am; special crafts and egg hunt; $6 adults, children free)
