For more than 100 years, the Borda Family Lamb Ranch has been raising sheep in the Carson Valley as well as keeping basque traditions alive and well in Nevada. Carson City has utilized them for years to help cut down on fire damage caused by dry grasses in the hills. The ewes and lambs were released into the hills earlier this week along with their shepherds, who have set up their camp in the hills behind Greenhouse Garden Center, and they'll be in charge of grazing 2,000 acres of Carson City foothills until they move on.
