Grown Up and Guppies at the Carson City Aquatic Center

Head over to the Carson City Aquatics Center every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for Grown ups and Guppies. Making the water fun for your guppy is the most important step in preparing for swim lessons. This class is designed to acquaint adult and child wild play activities and to teach very basic fundamental skills. The course is parent-driven, under the supervision of an instructor. No registration required. Class is limited to 12 adult/child pairs on a first-come first served basis. For ages 6 months to 4 years.

Storytime Wednesdays at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada

Join in for weekly storytime with an accompanying craft each Wednesday. Recommended for children ages 1 - 6. All included with museum admission.

Art Studio Craft Classes at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada

Drop-in art studio every Wednesday and Friday from 2 - 4 p.m. Creative art studio projects are included with museum admission. All ages welcome. Additional crafts are available for cost.

Fingerboarding Club at the Carson City Library

Enjoy doing tricks and having fun with miniature skateboards. A table will be set up with a skatepark for an hour of fnigerboarding. Fingerboards will be provided but feel free to bring your own. Open to patrons 14 and up. No registration required. From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Join 4-H and Master Gardeners for Gardening Club happening May 9 in Carson City

4-H and Master Gardeners would like to invite you to Gardening Club. Registration to 4-H is not required for attendance. Supplies will be provided. Youth of all ages from 5-19 are welcome to attend.

Mark Twain Days Family Story Time and Activity Workshop at the Children's Museum

Join us for a special Story Time on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10:30am for the start of the second annual Mark Twain Days in Carson City. This all ages family event is hosted by the Children’s Museum and Free to participate! We will be reading retold children’s version of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” followed by a STEAM activity making and small racing paddle boats to take home! Program start promptly at 10:30am with the reading. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early.

Annual Cops and Kids Sheriff’s Office open house returns Saturday May 11

Each year, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office hosts an open house event as a way to connect families, deputies, non-profits and more. This year the event takes place May 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event provides a “fun and interactive environment for kids and their families to engage with law enforcement, while also promoting positive relationships between law enforcement and the community as a whole,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Mother's Day weekend Carson City to Virginia City trains to launch 2024 V&T Railway season

This Mother’s Day weekend, the V&T Railway Commission is thrilled to announce the commencement of its train rides, offering an unforgettable experience to celebrate and cherish the special bond with Mom. The annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale is back May 11 at the Greenhouse Project in Carson City, located behind Carson High School at 1111 Saliman Road. Participants will be able to select a number of nursery plants ranging from vegetables and fruits to landscape plants, all grown specifically to adhere to our high desert climate.In addition to the plant sale, there will also be craft vendors, face painting, a raffle, and much more.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Office and the Office of Small Business Advocacy have announced a community forum focused on building a strong and vibrant community and engaging Carson City’s small business owners.

The Carson City Symphony's annual Pops Party concert will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, 6 p.m. at the Governor's Mansion back lawn, 606 Mountain Street, Carson City. The grounds will be open to the public at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Governor Joe Lombardo and the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development last week approved two companies that will receive $35,321,637 in tax abatements. In return, these companies are projected to create 272 jobs in the next two years at an average hourly wage of $41.26.

"Citadels & Sanctuaries,” an evening of big-band jazz and poetry, will be on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gina's Good Life Music & Lounge, inside the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson Street. The music is free, donations are requested.
