The Nevada State Public Health Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine has characterized the first known Nevada case of the new B.1.1.7 coronavirus strain. The new strain was detected in a sample that was initially tested in the Southern Nevada Public Health Laboratory.

Carson Animal Services Initiative, also known as CASI, is proud to offer Understanding Your Pet's Behavior seminar series with Animal Behaviorist Kelley Bollen. It has been a plan in the works for months and Monday the National Hockey League made it official — they are bringing NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe to Edgewood Tahoe Feb. 20-21, 2021.

The National Hockey League (NHL) will be holding two outdoor games in Lake Tahoe next month as part of their Outdoor Weekend series.

On Feb. 20, Nevada's own Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche will face off for a live game hosted by Edgewood Tahoe Resort.

Many in Carson City do everything they can to help the less fortunate, and those opportunities never cease being opportunities. With this in mind, the holidays are here, the semester at Carson High School is almost over, Christmas vacation, also known as winter break, begins Dec. 19, and there is another opportunity to be generous for those who have plenty.

The Nevada Day Committee got it wrong this year. By selecting "My Favorite Nevada Moment" as the theme for 2020, the committee has left people like me out.

Mr. Thomas A. Bohemier, 74, of Brooksville, Florida passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on October 11, 2020.

The Carson City Historical Society will be hosting a Zoom Memorial for Ron Machado on Saturday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m.

Ron passed away on May 27, 2020.

Ron was the last founding member of the Nevada Landmarks Society, which eventually became the Carson City Historical Society.

City National Bank, Nevada’s Premier Private and Business Bank, today announced that it has named Shari Chase, Founder and CEO of Chase International, as the newest member of its Northern Nevada Advisory Board. The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is used to building big Broadway productions this time of year, generally drawing from 6,000 to more than 7,000 people from 20 states and Canada. But there’s a bit of a problem.

To accommodate a highly anticipated community mural art project, the Tahoe East Shore Trail will be temporarily closed to public access between the Tunnel Creek Café and Sand Harbor all day on Tuesday, August 4, as well as Wednesday, August 5 through Friday, August 7, after 8:00 p.m.

There is a new group forming here in the Carson City area community. We are a group of business owners that meet to come up with solutions to different issues like time management, learning about social media, and overcoming other obstacles in the community. Carson City’s own community radio station, KNVC, has been quietly churning out locally curated music, news, information and talk shows for about three years now, and they’re only gaining speed as time goes on.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife and the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe are set to release 22 bighorn sheep Monday to the Lake Range on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation in a historic project between NDOW and the Tribe to reintroduce the species to the mountains surrounding Pyramid Lake where they once thrived.

DAYTON, Nev. — The wind tried to be the story in the first round of Stage One Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying at Dayton Valley Golf Club. But there is too much golf talent in the field of 65 players to allow that to happen even though winds gusted up to 20-25 mph late in the round.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking to several hundred Tahoe City residents on a warm summer evening in August. I was there for a celebration that has been a long time coming.

Residents gathered in the parking lot of the blighted Henrikson Building to take a ceremonial swing of the hammer — to say goodbye to an eyesore of a building whose useful life came to an end years ago. They were also there to celebrate what will soon take shape as Tahoe City’s first new hotel in more than 60 years.

Their shared ancestry to the rich equestrian tradition found in the United Kingdom offers natural synergy to the horsemanship tradition they have in common, but that’s where the trail and spoils split for Kailey Fitzpatrick and Riley McHenry.
