We are very excited to introduce this new opportunity for dancers in Nevada. We are on a limited budget but have a lot of passion. We would be grateful for any awareness you could bring to this endeavor. Below is our press release.

Heading into the weekend and inching closer to Thanksgiving, there’s a number of activities around the Carson City region. The fourth annual Carson Valley Turkey Trot begins Friday and will be held virtually throughout the month of November. Combined with live music and Open Mic Night at A to Zen, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement. Read on for more information.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region. The November Gobble Wine Walk kicks off in downtown Carson City followed by a new “Paths and Pedals” bike tour. Sierra Lutheran High School is also hosting a Christmas craft fair on Saturday. Combined with live music and virtual events, there’s plenty of activity happening in the state capital! Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Western Nevada College will host a memorial exhibit and informational presentation on the 9-11 attacks on Friday. Partnership Carson City will team up for a statewide suicide prevention virtual walk this Saturday. Along with live music and a 5K run/walk at Bob McFadden Plaza, there is plenty of excitement buzzing around the state capitol! Read on for more information.

Heading into Labor Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Steam train rides in Carson City and Virginia City will be available Saturday through Sunday. The Carson Canyon Railbike Tours will run four times over the next three days, bringing excitement unlike any other. Sand Harbor in Lake Tahoe will open two hours early beginning at 6 a.m. to ease capacity and congestion. Combined with plenty of live music, Labor Day weekend will be a thrill! Heading into Monday, the first day of July 2019 we leave an action-packed weekend behind us with a long Independence Day holiday week ahead. The activities continue, albeit at a slower place for the first day of the work week. There's art showings and activities for adults and kids, a My Place Hotels job fair, a talk featuring the program director at Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a swing dance class and more. Enjoy the day!

Heading into Monday, June 24, 2019 the first day of the work week and we say welcome to summer, Carson City. Expect highs in the mid-80s. Get on out there and keep the blood pumping and oxygen flowing with an early morning walk or bike ride. There's art activities for adults and kids, a discussion on climate change, a swing dance class and more. Enjoy the day!

Truly a springtime to remember in Carson City as we say goodbye to April, which leaves us with a spontaneous final chill, and hello to Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Temperatures should head back up into the low 60s by afternoon. Looking ahead there's art showings and painting workshops, a C-Hill hike to see the firefighting sheep, a school district strategic planning meeting, a Salsa dance class, and "Ideas on Tap," a monthly series of interactive conversations at The Union Eatery and Taphouse.

A Cha Cha Group Class will be held Friday, Feb. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at Yaple's Ballroom Dance Studio, Carson City's ONLY Ballroom Dance School!

One of the first things Johanna Foster did when moving back to Carson City to take care of her mother after retiring as an ecology professor in the Midwest was to join Muscle Powered, the advocacy group to create a more walkable and bikeable community.

There are not enough foster families in Carson City to meet the need, forcing children to be displaced into other communities — possibly causing further trauma. Information meetings this Wednesday and in March will address the shortage and ways to recruit families wanting to help.

It’s always a good day to try something new. If you enjoyed the recent production of ‘Nightfall with Edgar Allen Poe’ then head over to the Proscenium Players monthly meeting and learn how to be involved with their upcoming plays. Jump, jive, and wail with the High Sierra Swing Dance Club at Carson Lanes. They hold a beginning and intermediate dance class before an evening of open dancing. The Vikings-Bears rivalry can be seen on ESPN during tonight’s Monday Night Football Game; cheer on your team and fill up on great food at Living the Good Life.

MONDAY:

It’s the Wildcats turn to head back to campus. The fall semester at Western Nevada College kicks off today. The Reading Partners Program is welcoming volunteers that would like to lend a hand to kids learning to read. Attend their short seminar today and you’ll be on your way helping instill a love of reading to the next generation. Get on the dance floor at Carson Lanes. You’ll find a beginner’s swing dance class, one for intermediate dancers, and a few hours of open dancing to show off your new moves.

As back-to-school supplies start rolling out in stores, Sierra Lutheran High School’s administrative team is already gearing up for the school’s 16th school year. The school enthusiastically welcomes Dr. Tami Seddon, a Carson Valley native, as their new principal following the retirement of Reverend Juls Clausen. Dr. Seddon, a UC Davis and Stanford alumna, has been with the school since its inception as both a teacher and academic dean.

Are you VooDoo Ready? As we prepare for Big Bad VooDoo Daddy opening for the free Levitt AMP Concert Series beginning June 23rd, the BAC announces an exciting partnership with Yaple's Ballroom in Downtown Carson City to make sure you can swing.

The Rockabilly Riot roars into town today and it’s bring cool cars, a tattoo expo, music, contests, pin-up girls, and so much more. Check it out at Mills Park and make sure to catch the talented officers competing in this year’s Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge while you’re there. The kids in town are getting a new Teen Center at the Boys and Girls Club: the ribbon cutting is at 10 a.m. You’ll find author Mike White at the Nevada State Museum this evening. His presentation on the best backpacking trips in Nevada and California is part of the Francis Humphrey Lecture Series.

The spring thaw has begun, and the event listing for the next few days is proof. There are quite a few options for music, art, theater, and more. Downtown offers live music at Westside Pour House and Bella Fiore, comedy at the Carson Nugget, and an Art Show for Carson High Senior, Erica Murray, at the Brewery Arts Center. Living the Good Life and Glen Eagles have dinner music for you. An afternoon treat is best found at Yogurt Beach: all proceeds help the family of three year old Maya Morrison battling leukemia. Capital City Arts Initiative is proud to welcome a new exhibit to their gallery in the Carson City Courthouse. Laugh it up with Ester Steinberg at Carson Comedy in the Nugget or head to the Brewery Arts Center for an evening of Improv with special guests the Reno Improv Group.

Hey ‪Swing Dancers!‬ High ‪‎Sierra‬ ‪Swing ‎Dance‬ Club (HSSDC) is presenting a six week beginner ‪West Coast Swing (WCS) dance class on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 28 through Feb. 25, 2015. Get a taste of Swing at the club's monthly dance held in the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom on Jan. 24. HSSCD will have a free beginners lesson starting at 6:30 p.m. and free night of dance for new west coasters.

Is your New Year’s resolution to get in shape? High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents a 6-week beginners’ West Coast swing dance class, 7:15-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, starting Jan. 21-Feb. 25, Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 W. The Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company from Salt Lake City Utah will perform at the CVIC Hall, in Minden on November 1. The Company will also conduct a Dance Workshop for area dance students on November 2. Tickets are $25 in advance. Master Dance Class is $20 or $25 for the class and concert and reservations are required. Deadline for the Dance Workshop is October 25.

The Concert on November 1 is at 7:00 pm at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda, Minden.
