Sunday, Dec. 4: Things to do around Carson City
Don’t think that Sundays are just for rest, there is plenty to coax you out of your pajamas today. Take a trip with Santa at the Nevada Railroad Museum. Search for treasures and do your Christmas shopping at Fuji Park today, one of the multiple craft shows in town. Enjoy a free concert at the Community Center courtesy of the Capital City Community Band. Dayton is celebrating a small town Christmas tonight; bust out your best ugly sweater and join the fun. - Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride - Meet in the south parking lot of Fremont Elementary School, next to the Linear Ditch Trail (meet at 8am; consists of two loops 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles; ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but usually about 12-16 mph; email Shane shane@shanetrotter.net for questions; All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and closed toed shoes. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the meeting site)
- Nevada Artists Association Art Exhibit at the Carson Visitor Center (8am-6pm)
- First Sunday Breakfast at the Elks Club: 515 N Nevada (bar opens 8am; 8:30am-11am, $8)
- Clear Creek Bowmen Holiday with a Hero 3-D Archery Shoot at the Centennial Park Archery Range (registration 9:30am, 10am start; $10; benefit for the Holiday with a Hero program)
- Carson Colony's Christmas Craft Fair in the gymnasium of Carson Colony: 2900 S. Curry St. (9am-5pm; Indian tacos and over 50 vendors)
- Breakfast and Bowl at Carson Lanes (9am-12pm; breakfast and unlimited bowling until noon $13, $8 kids 8 and younger)
- Community Yoga with Allison Reitz at Comma Coffee (9am-10am; $10 cash, first class only $5; beginners are welcome; Bring your mind, body, and mat -a limited number of extra mats will be available)
- Carson City Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (Trains leave every half hour 10am-3pm; $5, children 3 and under who sit in an adult's lap are free; Refreshments, including hot cocoa, available for purchase; raffle)
- Cookie Decorating for kids at Genoa Coffee and Candy in Carson Lanes (10am-7pm; one free cookie for kids 10 and under)
- Holiday Craft Fair at the Carson Mall (Vendors 10am-5pm; Santa photos 10am-6pm)
- Christmas Shopping Extravaganza at Fuji Park (10am-6pm; handmade gifts, local businesses, local reps, jewelry, makeup, healthcare, home decor, and more)
