Reimagining learning, the Carson City Library is bringing robotics technology and engineering to Carson City middle school students in 2021. Utilizing analog and digital learning, students will build components of a bionic fish, elephant, and chameleon over the 3-day Bionics Camps designed to encourage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) related career exploration and development.

The Carson City Fire Department will allow open burning November 14, 2020 to December 13, 2020.

The purpose of the open burn period is to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of accumulated weeds and yard debris. In order to make this a safe endeavor for those involved, the Carson City Fire Department will require a burn permit.

This spring, the occurrence of COVID-19 presented students at Western Nevada College a unique and challenging context for their final project. The Engineering Design class applied problem-solving and engineering design skills to address a real-life scenario in managing the response to the virus.

In light of COVID-19 health concerns, Nevada’s June 9, 2020 primary election will be by mail-in ballot. The Carson City Clerk-Recorder contracted with one of the largest specialty ballot printers in the country, K&H Election Services, to print, assemble and mail the mail-in ballot packages.

Prism Photographics announces a major change to the current art gallery to become Carson Valley’s premier art gallery. With Easter a week away, the Easter Bunny will make an appearance at the Carson Mall in Carson City this Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14 and again on April 20. Precious Moments will be joining the craft show, as it hosts the Easter Bunny who will have a special prize for each child.

CARSON CITY — January is National Radon Action Month, and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Radon Education Program is offering free short-term radon test kits to Nevadans from Jan. 2 through Feb. 28. Radon test kits are available at Cooperative Extension offices and partnering locations, as well as at presentations, statewide.
