Carson City Events and Happenings for Sunday, Jan. 26

Happy Sunday, Carson City! Today we have a bunch of great events to round out this busy weekend! Check below to see what's going on!

Sunday, January 26
— 18th annual Eagles and AG Photo Contest (all day). Carson Valley’s Gathering of Eagles and Celebration of Agriculture is ready for its 18th year, with the event scheduled forThursday, January 23rd through Sunday, January 26th. From our opening reception and photography exhibit on Thursday evening, to the Falconers Dinner on Friday, the tours and photo workshops on Saturday, to the guided hike on Sunday, we’re ready for another great year!

— Landscape Design Workshop. 10 a.m. at Greenhouse Garden Center, 2450 S. Curry St. Any person attending the workshop will receive 15 percent off any landscape plants purchased during the 2020 season. Lunch will be provided for both days. All materials will be provided.

— Nevada Artists Association New Year's Show. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 449 W. King St. NAA presents its New Year's Show with 124 entries by member artists. Additionally, water colorist, Melanie Walters and potter, Nancy Brownrigg are our Featured Artists and have their exhibits on the back wall of the Gallery. These shows run through February 14. The Gallery is located at 449 W. King Street and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. everyday except Monday. — First Christian Church Blood Drive. 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at 2211 Mouton Dr., Carson City. Experience the awe. Life-saving blood offers second chances and many tomorrows to those who depend on it. The process only takes about an hour and is one of the easiest ways to give back to your community. If you've never donated blood before, we encourage you to try. Make your appointment.

— Carson City Historical Society to hold open house for Foreman-Roberts House and Carriage House Sunday. 2 p.m. The Foreman Roberts House will be open one Sunday a month with various exciting displays, the first being the “History of the Foreman Roberts House.” Both the Foreman Roberts and the Carriage House will be open on Sunday, January 26 from 2-5. The next two dates are in February 23 and March 29.
The Foreman Roberts House is located at 1207 North Carson Street, Carson City, Nevada.

— Carson City Parks Foundation Holds an Open House at the Wungnema House. 2 to 5 p.m. Did you make a New Year’s Resolution to learn more about our community and its cultural heritage? We hope you did, but if you didn’t, it’s never too late. Kick-off 2020 by visiting the Wungnema House in Mills Park, as well as the Foreman-Roberts House on North Carson Street. These houses represent 2 different aspects of our community’s cultural heritage. Both historic houses are open from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Wungnema House is the stone cottage on the east side of Mills Park across from Carson High. At the Wungnema House you can learn about some of unique and enduring contributions a family of Native Americans made to our area. Access to the Wungnema House is off Saliman Road, opposite Carson High School. There is no admission fee, and all ages are welcome.

— 'Refuse To Be A Victim' crime prevention, safety seminar to be held in Carson City. 1 p.m. at Battle Born Ammunition & Firearms Training Room, 4630 US Highway 50 E Unit 7 Carson City. Developed in response to nationwide requests for crime prevention seminars, Refuse To Be A Victim teaches methods to avoid dangerous situations and prevent criminal confrontations. Seminar participants will be presented with a variety of common sense crime prevention and personal safety strategies and devices that may be integrated into their personal, home, automobile, telephone, technological, and travel security.

— Mosaic Class 101 Offered in Dayton. 1 to 3:30 p.m. at 5000 E. Hwy 50. If you are interested in learning mosaic, there's a class offered in Dayton this month especially for you. This is Mosaic Class 101 and is a 2 to 2 ½-hour class and is designed to help you learn to use the bare necessities and to help you plan for your next project. Your Mosaic 101 project is an 8-inch stepping stone.

— Paint Your Pet Class. 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Picasso and Wine Carson City, 3821 S. Carson St. Join us at Picasso & Wine for the popular Paint Your Pet Event! This is unlike our normal painting classes because each person will have a unique pet photo. Picasso & Wine artists will assist in the selection of your palette, answer questions you have, and offer advice, tips and suggestions if needed—but this is an individual creative venture. You’ll work at your own pace (up to 3 hours). Paint Your Pet is a more advanced painting. It is highly recommended that you attend at least one painting event prior to painting your pet. — Spanish Wine Dinner at the Pink House in Genoa. 6 p.m. at 193 Genoa Ln. From live music to special dinners, and of course, Valentine's Day, we’ve got a winter packed full of events! See below for our calendar and event menus through the beginning of March. Indoor seating is limited during the cold months ahead, so give us a call for reservations at 775-392-4279.

— Misfits Theater Group Holds Auditions for Spring Melodrama. 6 p.m. at the Dayton Library, 321 Dayton Valley Rd. The Misfits Theater Group in Dayton is holding auditions for its Spring melodrama “Showdown at Phingerdoo or Bad Day at Dead Frog Flats” on Sunday, January 26 at 6 p.m. at the Dayton Library, 321 Dayton Valley Rd, Dayton. This old-time melodrama directed by Andra Woolman is set in the Wild West and has a cast of eight men and five women.

— Sunday Evening at Living the Good Life. 6 p.m. at 1480 N. Carson St. Come celebrate with us on Sunday with a fun evening full of food, drinks and entertainment for all to enjoy!

— Dinner and Wine Tastings at Genoa Town Hall. 6 to 9 p.m. at 2287 Main St. in Genoa. Kick back and enjoy yourself this Sunday with a delicious dinner and wine tastings at the Genoa Town Hall. A craft selection of fine cuisine and wines will be on service from 6 to 9 p.m.
