Heading into Thursday, activities lined up include a cardio and strength connection class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a Polka Dot Powerhouse Women's Group luncheon at Red's Old 395 Grill, art showings, live music with Dale Poune at Gather, a meeting of the Carson City GOP at Casino Fandango featuring speaker Bob Potts from the Governor's Office of Economic Development, and more.

Heading into Monday and moving forward to the first full week of 2020 we're looking at mostly sunny skies and a daytime high near 50. Activities lined include the Winter Reading Challenge at the Carson City Library, organizers of the Pete Buttigieg presidential campaign will give a presentation, art activities, plus a free yoga class at the Community Center and more. The last Thursday of November means a big gobble gobble, Happy Thanksgiving to all. Enjoy in the games, festivities, activities at home and outdoors. Events are at a minimum, for obvious reasons, but the two big ones are traditions for us in the capital city. The Carson City Turkey Trot at the Governor's Mansion and the free Carson Nugget Thanksgiving community dinner. Enjoy your day and any slight break in the weather. More winter storms are on the way.

Shop local at participating businesses and receive a drawing ticket! This is our way of thanking the community for shopping local. The nonprofit organization greenUP!, which provides environmental education to businesses announced a group effort to make our Nevada Day parade in Carson City a more sustainable event. A Nevada Day green team was assembled to find ways to reduce waste at the event and they are seeking volunteers for the Nevada Day parade and festivities on Oct. 26.

This Monday, Sept. 9, Carson High School will open their doors for the third annual “Open House, Open Hearts” Back-to-School event. The community event starting at 4:30 p.m. will focus on building bridges to local services for teens and their families, increasing guardian engagement at Carson High School and celebrating the community, creativity and diverse talents of Carson City.

But maybe mother nature is just trying to add a little extra water to the lakes and rivers before shutting down for a hot summer?
