CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Tuesday the appointment of Elisa Cafferata as the permanent director of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. She had been in the role of acting director.

On December 14, 2020 Xavier Pierce ran away from his home in Carson City. Xavier is believed to be in the Carson City area and may be riding a red bicycle.

On Thursday morning, December 17, 2020 Xavier’s mother discovered his wet clothing in their garage and it appeared he changed his clothing. Xavier does not have any medical problems and is not considered at risk.

Xavier has returned to his mother’s home on at least two different occasions, the most recent being on January 4, 2021.

Xavier’s mother believes he is coming to the home when she is gone to change clothes.

Employment in Nevada increased over the month by 8,200 jobs as the state continues to recover. Jobs remain below typical levels, down 96,900 jobs since December 2019, for an annual decline of 6.8 percent according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) December 2020 economic report.
