Chinese New Year, Carson Comedy Club's military appreciation night, live music and more: Carson City region readies for weekend

Events include a Chinese New Year Celebration at the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The Carson Comedy Club hosts its first Military Appreciation Night on Friday at the Carson Nugget. Carson Valley’s 18th annual Eagles and AG Photo Contest will be underway and live music will keep the Silver State buzzing with excitement. Read on for more information.
Local artist show ends at State Assembly Building

The fourteen framed photographs are of Nevada Landscape and will be shown at the Nevada Artist Association Art Gallery, on a rotating basis, starting June 1.
Senator Square: CHS Winterfest 2019 filled with fun and excitement

Some of the events included the Netflix show, "Stranger Things," a Twins Day, "Riverdale," "The Office," and even the ever popular once-a-month Dress for Success competition.
Nevada Artists Association Gallery Features New Work By Catherine King

Things to do on Thursday: tunes and trails, but no snowmen

That means the roads are slick, so give yourself some extra travel time until the sun gets a chance to melt it off. The Roska Collective wants to help you kick off your weekend early with Techno and Tequila at Battle Born Social downtown. The Bella Vita Bistro in the Carson Mall adds Thirsty Thursday Karaoke to the mix.

Record Turnout for Nevada Artists Association Carson City Photography Exhibit

A judged event, local and regional artists were invited to enter two photos for display in the NAA Gallery exhibit which opened Sunday, August 6, and which will run through Sept. 8, 2017.
Statewide events in May celebrate historic preservation, archaeology

Nevada agencies and organizations have worked to spread awareness of archaeological and historic preservation efforts throughout the state, encouraging both residents and visitors to explore and learn about Nevada’s significant archaeological and historical treasures.

Enjoy today with some country line dancing at Carson Lanes or the trivia pub quiz at Westside Pour House. Matt Theilen opens his photography exhibit at WNC today; the reception begins at 4:30 p.m. Head to Sparks today if you want to beat the weekend crowds at the Best in the West Rib Cook-off. Josh and Jenera of the Whitehats are holding an open mic jam at Firkin and Fox; bring your guitar, or just enjoy the music on the patio.

Geeks Who Drink trivia at Lake Tahoe Brewing Co. is a fun and silly way to pass an evening; and you can win prizes. Get some shopping done at the Carson Mall, and don’t forget your Hawaiian shirt: Hawaiian Santa will be there for photos. You’ll want your cowboy boots for line dancing at Carson Lanes.

It continues until Monday, so there is plenty of time to get your fill of bar-be-que. Explore the World at the Carson City Library tonight. Valarie Wilson gives a presentation on her time as a student at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. Step into the past with Wild Bill Hickock and Buffalo Bill Cody at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. Enjoy the new art exhibit at Comma Coffee; ‘See the World Through My Eyes’ by Linda Arnn Arteno is the feature of tonight’s artist reception.

With a reception on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 5 to 7 p.m. There will be snacks, desserts and coffee provided, as well as beer and wine available for sale.
Linda Arnn Arteno is a landscape photographer based in Northern Nevada. Her passion for the beauty that surrounds her has taken her all over the West, exploring the Pacific coast, deserts, mountain peaks, National and State parks and everything in between.

Silver City Celebrates Nevada 150 with Fine Art and Photography Exhibit

Silver City is located on the way to Virginia City on State Route 342, and the Silver City Schoolhouse can be found at 385 High St.

WNC Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Jack C. Davis Observatory
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 7:23pmMore than a decade ago, a Western Nevada College physics professor’s dream, a desire by college students to learn about astronomy, and the Carson City community's willingness to help make dreams come true, all converged to create the Jack C. Davis Observatory.
Now, WNC and the observatory staff and volunteers have planned a stellar celebration from May 2-15 to commemorate 10 years of science and discovery in Nevada’s capital city.
