Wine walk, Hauntober, live music and more highlight weekend activities in Carson City area
Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities over the next three days. The Carson City Wine Walk returns Saturday with COVID-19 restrictions. Virginia City will be filled with spooky events over the month of October with its signature Hauntober event. Combined with live music and karaoke, the Carson City area will be buzzing with excitement! Read on for more information.
New safety guidelines for the state of Nevada have been enforced, so please make sure to wear a mask and practice safe social distancing.

Below is a rundown of events over the next three days.
Friday, October 2
— Hauntober returns to Virginia City (all day). Virginia City will be packed with month-long events through October in the spirit of Halloween. As one of the most haunted destinations in the country, Virginia City is the perfect place to get spooked this October. Celebrate the supernatural and all things unexpected with an entire month of events including the outhouse races, ghost tours, safe trick-or-treating, a goblin parade and a family fun Thomas the and Friends excursion on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad.
— Volunteers sought for Carson City grant application review. The ARW is a citizen workgroup that reviews and recommends grant applications to be funded by the Carson City Community Development Block Grant and Community Support Services Grant programs. Applications for volunteers are now being accepted for the 2021 grant program year and will be due by October 2, 2020. Please submit your application to Mirjana Gavric at mgavric@carson.org.
— Carson River Canyon Railbike Tours. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road. Visit Carson City, in partnership with the V&T Railway Commission, have announced an all-new attraction unlike any other in northern Nevada. Railbikes will run Tuesday-Sunday, four times a day 10 a.m., noon, 2p.m. and 4 p.m. Excursions are $45 per person. Tickets may be purchased online at vtrailway.com.
— Dancing Class at Yaple's Ballroom Dance Studio. 3 p.m. at 315 N. Carson St. Dance it off everybody! No partner needed. Learn dance steps to all Ballroom and Latin dances. A Mix of mini dance routines and line dances.
— Beers in the Brewery at The Union Carson. 4 to 5 p.m. 302 N. Carson St. Join us in the brewery every Friday for a free beer tasting! Come and stop by the brewery to taste a couple of our house beers and have a few small bites while we teach you what makes each of our featured beers unique and delicious!
— The Pink House Celebratory Event. 6 p.m. at 193 Genoa Ln. in Genoa. It’ll be five years this October since we opened our doors here at 193 Genoa Lane. Our original plan for an anniversary celebration was a big party with music, food, and drink with all the guests we could handle on our patio.
— Virtual Open Mic Night at A to Zen. 6 p.m. at 1803 N. Carson St. In light of COVID-19, A to Zen Gift Shop in Carson City is hosting a virtual open mic night every Friday at 6 p.m. Interested participants can record their performance and send the video with the link above.
— Friday Night Karaoke at the Whiskey Tavern. 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at 3481 Hwy 50 E. in Carson City. Come hang out with the Whiskey Tavern and J and M Productions as we sing the night away every Friday! Must be at least 21 years old.
Saturday, October 3
— Carson City Wine Walk returns Saturday with new restrictions (all day). This Saturday, Oct. 3, the Carson City Wine Walk will be returning to the capital city for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, with new safety rules in place to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak recently stated that gatherings of under 250 people were now allowed within the Silver State. All wine walkers will be required to have a temperature check, wear an appropriate mask correctly and sign a waiver at check-in.

— Scarecrow Festival at Heritage Park. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1447 Courthouse Ally in Gardnerville. The Annual Scarecrow Festival, held for over 30 years in the Carson Valley, will still be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 3 in Heritage Park. Recently, the East Fork Gallery has partnered with Main Street Gardnerville and the event was part of the Fall Festival. This year, due to COVID-19, the Fall Festival will not be held, leaving the Scarecrow Festival as a solo event.
— Coin Press Demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 600 N. Carson St. Every Saturday from 11:00 am-3:00 pm we will provide minting demonstrations in the Historic Carson City Mint Building. Witness Coin Press No. 1, a 150 year old coin press, mint .999 fine silver commemorative medallions in the same building it produced.
— Pumpkin Patch at Artsy Fartsy Gallery. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 405 N. Nevada St. Join Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in the front yard for our first ever "Pumpkin Patch". The yard will be decorated with hand blown art glass pumpkins, recycled barbed wire pumpkins, pumpkin earrings, and many more pieces of "Pumpkin" themed art.
— Nevada Artists Association Autumn Show. 12 to 4 p.m. at 449 W. King St. The Nevada Artist Association is proud to present the 2020 “Autumn Show” and the beautiful works of Featured Artists Karen Kreyeski and Maggie Stillwell. All the work in these shows is from Nevada Artist Association members. These shows are open to the public through Oct. 23rd. NAA is the largest Fine Arts Gallery in the Carson-Tahoe area featuring work from over 140 Northern Nevada artists, including paintings, photographs, sculptures, gourds, jewelry, textile art, glass, pottery, prints, cards and more.
— Live Music at Carson City's Comma Coffee. 1 to 5 p.m. at 312 S. Carson St. Come on down for some socially distanced live music! I’ll be playing in the outdoor courtyard at Comma Coffee next Saturday afternoon.
— Deception to perform at Living the Good Life. 6 to 10 p.m. at 1480 N. Carson St. Last outdoor show before winter? We’ll see! Come out and celebrate the start of fall. Weather is predicted to be quite warm! Let’s have some fun!

— Fall Craft Fair at Dayton Senior Center. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 320 Old Dayton Rd. Enjoy a nutritious hot meal, make new friends, renew old acquaintances, and enjoy group activities. Transportation available to and from the center.

— Raiders Game Watch at Jimmy G's Cigar Bar. 1 p.m. at 301 N. Carson St. Let’s continue to show our love and support loud and proud down at the G spot the home of Nevada Raider Nation!! We will as always have food for paid members and if not yet paid we kindly ask for a small donation so we can keep the food going. This week we will have our 50/50 drawing, so be sure to come down to get in on the cash pot.
