— Carson City's Starbucks to host Coffee with a Cop Day. 8 a.m. In honor of National Coffee with a Cop Day, Carson City's local Starbucks will partner with the Carson City Sheriff's Office to host the event, where community members can come and meet their local law enforcement men and women. The event will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Starbucks located at (Highway 50) 1410 E William St.
— Chili's Bar and Grill is holding an annual Donate Profits Day on Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Nationwide all Chili's will be donating 100 percent of the days profits to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Come in and enjoy a great meal, color a pepper, and know that your contribution in just eating will go to St. Jude.
— Tahoe mystery author Todd Borg featured Wednesday at Nevada State Library in Carson City. 12 noon. Tahoe author Todd Borg will be the featured guest Wednesday in Carson City at the Nevada State Library’s Brown Bag Book series. Borg is the author of 16 books in the Tahoe Mystery series, featuring Owen McKenna, a former homicide inspector from the San Francisco Police Department. The Brown Bag Book series begins at noon, Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 100 North Stewart Street, Room 110.
— Grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration at Carson City's Gather restaurant. 5 p.m. The new farm-to-table restaurant Gather in downtown Carson City will host its grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration this Wednesday, Oct. 3. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. Gather is located at 402 North Carson Street inside of the old Horseshoe Club on the corner of Carson Street and Telegraph.
— 'Ideas on Tap' Wednesday to focus on voting, elections. 6 p.m. The next "Ideas On Tap" in downtown Carson City is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Battle Born Social Lounge, 318 N. Carson Street. Moderator Michael Smith said the October topic, titled "No sympathy for voter apathy," will be focused on voting and the approaching Nov. 6 general election.
— Mindfulness and Meditation Class Series. 6:30 p.m. This 5-week class will introduce attendees to the practice of sitting, walking, and eating meditation, and teach participants how to bring mindfulness to everyday life. Core Buddhist concepts will also be explored. Some classes will include mindful movement. There is no charge; donations gratefully accepted. Class will be held from 6:30-8pm at Unity of the Sierra, 1933 California Street, Carson City.
— Carson City 4-H Bouncing Bunnies Begins 4-H Year. 6:30 p.m. Bouncing Bunnies 4-H Rabbit Club is back and rearing to go with Brenda Moore as the new leader. The first meeting is Oct. 3, 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Fuji Exhibit Hall, 601 Old Clear Creek Road in South Carson City cross from Costco. Sign-ups begin at 6:30 pm followed by the distribution of project manuals. Please call the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension office for answers to your questions, 775 887-2252, and speak with Sandy Wallin.
— Pitch Perfect Family Night Smithwick-Francone fundraiser at Galaxy Theaters. 6:30 p.m. Pitch Perfect Family Night fundraiser for Johnny Francone Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Galaxy Theaters Fandango, 4000 S. Curry Street in Carson City. The Fandango movie theater will be hosting a school movie night to support Johnny Francone/Smithwick family. 100 percent of proceeds will be going to the family. Tickets are $5 each.
— Jazz Jam Wednesday at Living the Good Life, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. featuring John and Cherie Shipley and Miguel Jimenez-Cruz. 1480 North Carson Street.

— Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program launch Winter Coat Drive. The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program is hosting a winter coat drive Oct. 1 through Nov. 2, 2018. Please donate new or gently used, clean coats, hats, gloves and snow pants. Items will be distributed to families in need on Nov. 8, 2018 at 2310 South Carson St. Suite 1 Carson City or the Douglas County Washoe Tribe of NV & CA Native TANF Program office, 1248 Waterloo Ln, Gardnerville.
— Student Art Exhibition: The Wind Calls, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) announces it’s exhibition, The Wind Calls featuring nine University of Nevada, Reno, students’ work. The free exhibition is available to the public through October 9, 2018, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – noon and 1:00 – 4:00 pm. It is held at the BRIC, 108 E Proctor St., Carson City. The Wind Calls includes work by Mahedi Anjuman, Nicki Bracco, Mark Combs, Teal Francis, Hannah Huntley, Gwaylon Leaf, Frances Melhop, Ally Messer, and Carla Miller. The artists used a wide variety of art media including mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, painting, printmaking, and photography to make their art and comments on contemporary life and society.
— The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its exhibition, "Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979 - 1984" with artwork by artist Jenny Raven in the city’s Community Center Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition is available to the public through October 18, 2018. The Sierra Room is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Nevada Artists Association opens Carson City Autumn art show. The Nevada Artists Association opened its annual "Autumn" exhibit will run through Oct. 19, 2018. More than 100 local and regional artists make up the non-profit NAA which operates the gallery located at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center. In addition to the Autumn Show, two association members will be featured, with art work displayed on the coveted back wall of the gallery, artist Cindy Whitaker and photographer Fred Howland will be exhibiting their finest. The Gallery is located at 449 West King Street. It is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Go to www.NevadaArtists.org for more information.
