Join Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space for pollinator planting along Buzzy's Ranch Trail this Wednesday October, 19th 2022 from 8 AM-10 AM. Volunteers will meet at Carson River Park, located at 5013 Carson River Road and walk along Buzzy's Ranch Trail to the planting site.

Pick out your favorite ugly holiday sweater for Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space's first ever ugly sweater hike. The hike will take place on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Empire Ranch.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Several fundraisers, including the annual “Share Your Christmas” Food Drive will be available throughout the Carson City, Minden and Reno areas on Friday. You can visit the North Pole safely as part of a drive-thru Santa's Village experience at V&T Railway in Carson City, beginning Friday into the weekend. A living nativity scene will be featured at First United Methodist Church on Saturday and Sunday. Combined with train rides in Virginia City, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement. ‘Tis the season for a fun outdoors holiday adventure. Join us for our annual Holiday Hike at Silver Saddle Ranch this Saturday, Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. We will hike around and learn about the history of the Holidays. This hike will be socially distanced, and everyone is required to wear a mask. We can’t wait to see you there!

Join us for our November Full Moon Hike on Monday, November 30th! We will meet at the south end of Prison Hill off of Golden Eagle Lane.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department is looking for adults interested in volunteering to assist leading snowshoe trips.

The department is hoping to offer at least a couple trips each month while there is snow on the ground.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is working with a third-party consultant to develop a master plan for the Fuji Park/Fairgrounds and is seeking information on the current use of the facilities as well as ideas on how the facilities can improve to better accommodate the community.

UPDATE MONDAY: The Carson City Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting this Thursday, 1 p.m. to discuss and take possible action regarding the appointment of a person to fill an anticipated vacancy in the office of Ward 3 Supervisor on the Board of Supervisors for a term that begins Jan. 4, 2021 and ends Jan. 1, 2023.

Heading into the final weekend of October, Halloween and Nevada Day events will keep revelers busy through Sunday making for a jam packed weekend of fun for families and grownups around the Carson City region.

Celebrating Halloween in Carson City is really unlike any other place because the holiday sometimes lands on the same day as many Nevada Day festivities are underway. To have a more organized and safe Halloween for children, Carson City will again host its "BOOnanza" celebration this Thursday, and the Children's Museum will host a safe trick or treating event Friday.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department will host a special Full Moon Hike this Saturday, October 31st, at Silver Saddle Ranch. Come experience a full moon costume adventure that can only happen once in a Blue Moon.

Meet at Silver Saddle Ranch dressed in your best Halloween Costume. We will walk to the Carson River and back to ranch in a 2 mile loop. The trail is considered Easy according to the IMBA Trail Rating System.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space department invites the community to the 4th annual Carson City BOOnanza. Due to COVID-19, this year’s BOOnanza will be a drive-through event.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will take place Thursday, October 15, in the Bob Boldrick Theatre of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department will be hosting September's Full Moon Hike on the North end of Prison Hill. The hike will be a fun adventure featuring the "Corn Moon," the Ranch Overlook, and plenty of beautiful scenery.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is seeking individuals who are interested in volunteering as NRA Range Safety Officers. These volunteers will supervise participants at the Carson Rifle and Pistol Range to ensure safe practices and procedures.

Camp Carson is a decades long summer tradition for school-aged children in the capital city. Every year children can be seen at Mills Park, the Carson City Community Center, the Carson City Aquatic Center, or around town attending various field trips, identifiable by their matching, brightly colored t-shirts.

Through grassroots fundraising, a group of Carson City pickleball players raised over $12,000. The group will be donating the funds to the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation for court surface repairs and the conversion of one tennis court to a pickleball court.

Plenty of activities around Carson City are returning for all to enjoy throughout the summer. From hiking and biking trails and campgrounds, to several outdoor recreational activities, there are many ways to get outside and enjoy the warm weather.

Summer is in full swing, and recreational activities around Carson City are starting to return in the near future.

From the Carson City Library’s 2020 Learning Challenge, to archery classes at the Clear Creek Bowman Archery Camp, there are several ways for youth to get outside and enjoy the Silver State.

The gate on Ash Canyon Road, located at the trailhead to the Ash to Kings Trail in Ash Canyon, is now open, Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space announced Monday.

Junior Giants at Home is a free virtual season that brings the fun of the field to your home, according to Carson City Parks and Rec.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space announced March 18 its update on office and staffing changes, facility closures and program cancelations and postponements due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Carson City officials are continuously monitoring the level of risk of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) to the community. In close coordination with Carson City Health and Human Services, the City Manager’s Office along with City departments in an abundance of caution are coordinating the closure of some offices to take additional measures to slow the spread of respiratory viruses. Heading into the middle of the work work, activities around town include a yoga class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a midweek meditation series offered at Carson City Yoga, conversational Spanish classes at Partnership Carson City, Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, a presentation of "Valiant Women of The Vote" Mix and Mingle honoring the 19th Amendment at the Governor's Mansion, Ladies Night at Bella Vita Bistro, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and much more.
