His presentation, on the subject of budget deficits and public debt, will explore the issue of when reliance upon deficit spending to finance public sector investments is warranted and prudent, and how increases in levels of accumulated government debt affects interest rates and perceptions of national credit worthiness.

Climate change: Is it real? Yes! Is there something that you can do? Yes! A few years ago I became more aware and concerned about our environment. My concern was elevated based upon what I was reading, hearing and witnessing.

Employment in Nevada increased over the month by 8,200 jobs as the state continues to recover. Jobs remain below typical levels, down 96,900 jobs since December 2019, for an annual decline of 6.8 percent according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) December 2020 economic report.

On Friday, the Greenhouse Project held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new outdoor classroom which will be used to host both students from Carson High School as well as community classes on gardening and agriculture.

For the week ending November 14, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 7,243, down 313 claims, or 4.1 percent, compared to last week’s total of 7,556 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR). Through the week ending November 14, there have been 760,038 initial claims filed in 2020, 738,386 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, in partnership with NV Energy and the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, is seeking public comment on the NV Energy Resilience Corridors project.
