A third capital city Dutch Bros Coffee, a popular coffee shop chain originating in Oregon, will be opening soon near the new Chick-fil-A in South Carson City.

A pre-opening ribbon cutting was held by the Carson City Chamber on Tuesday, Jan. 19 to herald the grand opening of Carson City’s Chick-fil-A located at 4751 Cochise just off S. Carson Street turning on W. Appion Way and left on Cochise.

It was an eventful year around the Carson City region notwithstanding the limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's some notable stories that were not pandemic related that happened in 2020.

On Friday, the Greenhouse Project held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new outdoor classroom which will be used to host both students from Carson High School as well as community classes on gardening and agriculture.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department opened three new segments of trail following an Oct. 30 ribbon cutting. These fun new trails are part of a network of non-motorized paths that connect residents with almost 5,000 acres of Carson City Parks and Open Space within the Carson River/Prison Hill area. Future plans include completing a multi-use path around Prison Hill.

South Carson Street now has new sidewalks, fresh roadway, improved lighting, and landscaping, with more landscaping on the way. Construction crews will continue to wrap up on some miscellaneous work during November. More details on the ribbon cutting ceremony is forthcoming. See CarsonProud.com.

The Chamber's Leadership class graduated yesterday afternoon. It's been quite the year for this Class of 2020, but they were able to complete two projects in the midst of all this uncertainty.

Yesterday's graduation was held at the trailhead of the Foothill Trail.

This time last year, the Class of 2019 was as busy as bees preparing the land behind the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center to build the city’s first bee hotel hoping to attract bees to pollinate The Greenhouse Project plants.

Prism Photographics announces a major change to the current art gallery to become Carson Valley’s premier art gallery. The new Art Gallery@Prism, located inside the old Bently Wool Warehouse in Minden, will be featuring up to 30 regional artists from communities of Northern Nevada to the Sierra Nevada.

Cuban immigrant Yamila Perez has hit Carson City by storm. With so much raw energy, she will become a force in representing the Latino community as she grows her new beauty business catering to those who want to look and feel better.

Cucina Lupo, Carson City’s newest Italian restaurant, hosted its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday.

The owner, Mark Estee, is also the proprietor of several other local restaurants including Carson City’s The Union, Gardnerville’s Overland Restaurant and Pub, and Reno’s Liberty Food and Wine Exchange, as well as Chez Louie in the Nevada Museum of Art.

Going into Monday, Nov. 11, 2019 it is Veterans Day. Federal, state and local government offices and schools are closed to observe the holiday. Thank you U.S. Veterans for your service to our great country. There are a number of organized happenings in the region, including parades in Virginia City and Reno, as well as events in South Lake Tahoe and Sparks. Plus a number of Carson City and Carson Valley restaurants are offering no cost meals as a gesture of gratitude to veterans and active duty military members. Also Monday is a discussion on homeless issues with local advocate and champion for those who are often without a voice, Dee Dee Foremaster.

Honoring those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, Veteran's Day is Monday, Nov. 11 with a number of events happening around the capital city and Northern Nevada which began this week and will continue through Tuesday.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce celebrated its newest member with a ribbon cutting Tuesday evening welcoming Berkshire Hathaway Home Services new Drysdale Properties location in the capital city.

Carson City and Lennar Homes will host the grand opening of Schulz Ranch Park this Wednesday, Oct. 16. Schulz Ranch Park is the first new park in Carson City in 12 years.

Built by Lennar Homes, the park is owned by Carson City, with maintenance funded through the City’s first Landscape Maintenance District. The 3.5-acre park, located in the Schulz Ranch subdivision, is at the corner of Race Track Road and Wheeler Peak Drive, is home to the second universally accessible playground in Carson City.

On Thursday afternoon, My Place Hotels hosted a ribbon cutting and unveiled the newest hotel for Carson City with fanfare, music, and catering.

The festivities began at 4 p.m. on Thursday, and the public was invited to attend in order to take tours and speak with staff members and executives to learn more about the new hotel.

Heading into Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 and we're looking at continued sunshine and cool temperatures, with some warming in time for the weekend. Activities ahead around the capital city feature a workshop by Carson City TRIAD to prepare residents for Medicare open enrollment, a Muscle Powered led afternoon hike at Sedge Road, the grand opening of My Place Hotel, modern western square dancing lessons, art showings, library activities and more. Going into the second week of October, there's plenty of events around the capital city for this Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019 including a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered. There's also art showings, the grand opening of Carson City's Postal Annex, family movie night at the Carson City Library featuring "Muppets from Space," as well as Big Band jazz music with a fall theme at Living the Good Life and more. The new My Place Hotel located at 17 Hospitality Way in Carson City will host a Grand Opening on Thursday, October 10 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m.

Those in attendance will be able to tour the new hotel. There will also be prizes and giveaways, hors d’oeuvres, local food trucks, adult beverages, and there with be live KOZZ classic rock.

Carson City's "Postal Annex" will be hosting a grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration on October 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at their new location at 3827 South Carson Street.

Fremont Elementary and local dignitaries hosted a Ribbon Cutting ceremony Friday, Sept. 13, to celebrate the newly added classrooms and square footage completed from construction over the summer.

The ceremony also helped kick off the school's annual Fall Festival where dozens of community partners, sponsors and the school offered information, food, a raffle with over 30 prizes, and tons of fun for students and families.

The Dayton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon cutting celebration in honor of the newest Chamber member, the Dayton Taphouse.

The Dayton Taphouse opened in June in a historical 1887 saloon complete with a modern beer garden.
